Street style is forever one of the hottest topics during show season.

With the four big fashion weeks now behind us, there has been a lot of style inspo to soak up. But while the runway looks on show were, of course, forecasting for spring/summer 2023, those looks sitting front row were ripe and ready for influencing our wardrobes today.

The street style set at fashion week are undeniable masters of their craft. So much so, in fact, that before a catwalk even kicks off there has been a showcase of its own staged outside by a small number of the notable guests, expertly modelling for the crowd of incredibly talented photographers waiting patiently on the pavements for a glimpse of these genuine fashion moments.

But these looks don’t just happen. They’re often meticulously planned – sometimes in collaboration with the designers themselves – and with a team of stylists, make up artists and hair stylists behind the scenes ensuring perfection at every angle.

So what, exactly, does it take to pull off a major fashion week wardrobe as a street style star? We caught up with Brittany Xavier to find out…

What is your packing process for international shows – do you plan an outfit per day or take staples to mix up depending on your mood?

I look at my show schedule and see what I’m being dressed for, then plan outfits for meetings and free days. 

For all show looks, I try them on a few days in advance. Sometimes I add in my own pieces or play around with different shoes and accessories. My team takes a photo of the final look so we remember how it’s styled for the day of the show.
