The Indian Institute of Entrepreneurship, Guwahati and the Center for Enterprise Incubation and Support of the Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Shillong recently signed an agreement to promote the entrepreneurial ecosystem in the Northeast region.
“The aim of this partnership is to promote entrepreneurship, incubation and start-ups in the North East region,” an official statement said. Secretary in the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship Rajesh Agarwal said the Northeast has huge potential that is just waiting to be tapped.
“This partnership will help create an environment where start-ups and entrepreneurs can thrive in the region, not only supporting and encouraging local residents, but also giving them access to formal training, professional mentoring and the technical know-how needed to run a successful business,” Agarwal added.
The institutes will jointly conduct certified entrepreneurship development courses and train start-ups and incubate them under the Center for Enterprise Incubation and Support, IIM Shillong. They will also promote educational lectures, seminars, exhibitions and other programs to disseminate knowledge in the region. Both the institutes will share infrastructure facilities like laboratories, libraries, incubation centers etc. with each other for the research work of incubators and beneficiaries.
