Sonu Nigam was reportedly attacked in Mumbai’s Chembur area on Monday evening. According to reports, the celebrated Bollywood playback singer was with a friend when the incident happened. Sources say son of Uddhav Thackeray faction MLA Prakash Fartepekar wanted to meet Sonu Nigam at the Chembur Festival. When permission was denied, a kerfuffle ensued and the MLA’s son and his bodyguards reportedly charged at the singer and his friend.
As per reports, Sonu Nigam has reached Chembur Police Station and police are recording his statement.
A video said to be of the incident is going viral on social media.
The video shows people pushing each other as one person falls down from a flight of stairs.
Sonu Nigam, the National Award winning playback singer, recently made headlines after he said Laal Singh Chadda, the film that saw Nigam work with music director Pritam after years, was plagued by negativity. He further said the songs from the film could have become as popular as songs from Kal Ho Na Ho.
