In an interview with a news portal, Dhawan shared, that when he went to to the set, the makers taught him to dance and that he picked it up easily. Shikhar shared that he was asked to dance for a specific scene, so he did it honestly, played his part and enjoyed it. “I was confident that I could pull it off,” he told to Hindustan Times.
Speaking more about his role, he shared that even though it’s a small part he’s hopeful that his fans like him in this new avatar. Dhawan added that it was the script which deals with body-image issues and society’s perception of beauty was the main reason that made him say a ‘yes’ for the movie.
Shikhar added that when this opportunity came to him and when he heard the story, it made a deep impact on him. “The film aims to deliver a healthy message to society and has the potential to start a conversation. This is a lovely message for the whole society, and I hope a lot of young girls and boys will keep pursuing their dreams no matter what,” he shared.
When asked about how it was working on the sets, he shared that as an athlete playing for the nation, life is always very hectic and watching good and entertaining films is one of his favourite past times. Being in a film set was a different life for him altogether. It was a 8-9 hour shoot for the cricketer and he really enjoyed shooting with the crew. “Everyone at the set was very supportive and the director of the movie and co-actor Huma Qureshi were warm and kind throughout the shoot,” he concluded.
Helmed by Satram Ramani, Double XL is all set to hit the theatres on November 4.
