SS Rajamouli’s film RRR Starring Ram Charan, Jr. NTR, Alia Bhatt and Ajay Devgn is one of the biggest blockbusters of 2022. The film has done wonders at the box office by breaking many records. It is among the highest grossing films and is now receiving international accolades in terms of awards. RRR also has two nominations at the Golden Globes 2022. However, in a recent interview, Ratna Pathak Shah calls SS Rajamouli’s magnum opus “regressive”.

As reported by Free Press Journal, Ratna Pathak Shah said that the film starring Ram Charan, Jr NTR, Alia Bhatt and Ajay Devgn is regressive in nature and looks back in time when one should be looking forward. She stated that everyone feels that whatever they are doing is good as we are a part of democracy. She also mentioned that filmmakers these days don’t like criticism and egos get hurt. She was quoted as saying, “Until directors are critical of their work, we will have to watch films like RRR. But we don’t like criticism. Our egos are hurt, this atmosphere has been created by so many great people and unfortunately, we have accepted it.”

She also reportedly mentioned that theaters have more progressive stories. She recalled how her mother had done many stand-and-cry roles in male-oriented films. Ratna Pathak Shah is looking forward to release her Gujarati film Kutch Express. The trailer of the film was well received by the audience.

Awards won by RRR

Speaking of RRR, SS Rajamouli received the New York Film Critics Circle Award for Best Director. It has been nominated for the 2023 Golden Globe Awards. The film has also reportedly already won three trophies at the annual Philadelphia Film Critics Circle Awards. There seems to be no stopping RRR at the moment.
