A while ago, former Indian cricketer Sourav Ganguly himself had confirmed that a biopic on his life story is in the works. In fact, a month ago, Ganguly had flown to Mumbai with his friend Sanjay Das for a meeting regarding his biopic. And now, there is another update regarding the upcoming biopic! Interestingly, the makers of Sourav Ganguly’s biopic have zeroed Ranbir Kapoor to essay the character of the legendary cricketer.
Ranbir Kapoor to headline Sourav Ganguly’s biopic; script is in the final stage
If a report by ETimes is something to go by, then the script is in the final stage. Also, the report quoted a source close to the former Team India captain informing that Ranbir Kapoor has been confirmed for the biopic and he will play Sourav Ganguly onscreen. Reportedly, there were date issues however now it is believed Ranbir has given his nod.
On the other hand, it’s yet to be known who will direct the much-awaited biopic and who will be included in the rest of the cast. Also, it is worth mentioning that there hasn’t been any official confirmation about Ranbir coming on board for the biopic.
Besides Ranbir, there were speculations that Sidharth Malhotra and Hrithik Roshan were also approached earlier when the project was announced back in 2019.
While the official confirmation is yet to come, the Bollywood star is currently busy with the promotions of his upcoming film, Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar. Co-starring Shraddha Kapoor, the Luv Ranjan directorial is slated to release on March 8, 2023. Apart from this, Ranbir also has Animal in the pipeline, which is scheduled to hit theatres on August 11 this year.
