Puneeth Rajkumar’s untimely death left the nation shocked. Many industry dignitaries attended the actor’s last rites to pay their last respects, but Rajinikanth, who had a strong bond with the late actor, did not attend his funeral. There were many questions surrounding his absence. Recently at an event where Kannada legend Puneeth Rajkumar was honored with Karnataka’s highest civilian award – Karnataka Ratna posthumously on Tuesday where Rajinikanth and Jr NTR were the special chief guests at the event along with the state’s Chief Minister. At the same event, Rajnikanth got emotional and broke down when he remembered late actor Puneeth Rajkumar. He called Punit godfather and that he lived here with all of us for a while and returned to God again while his soul is with us.
The legendary actor even revealed why he couldn’t attend Puneeth Rajkumar’s funeral last year. He said he had undergone surgery and was in the intensive care unit when Punit died. The actor further revealed that he was not even informed about his father for three long days due to his health condition at that time. He concluded: “I would never want to lose that smiling face of a child from my memory.”
Rajinikanth was also brutally trolled for remembering Puneeth Rajkumar two weeks after his death. He remembered Punit and wrote, “I am doing well after the surgery. I felt very bad after hearing the news. He was a kid growing up in front of me and he was talented and attractive. Unfortunately, he left us when he was at the height of his successful career, at such a young age. His loss is irreparable to Canada’s film industry. I have no words to comfort his bereaved family. May Puneet’s soul rest in peace.” Well, now the trollers got the answer!
