Queen Camilla would ‘benefit a lot’ from style upgrade: fashion expert

Her wardrobe has queen better days.

As a royal family member, Queen Camilla — who turned 76 on Monday — is often seen dressed quite impeccably, decked out in designer dresses, nice jewelry and, of course, a crown as of late.

But according to one style expert, although the monarch dresses “remarkably well” for her age, she could “benefit a lot” by changing up her wardrobe in just a few different ways.

Style expert Leroy Dawkins recently told the UK’s Daily Express that Queen Camilla tends to wear the same kind of dress to different events, like a printed A-line style or one that is flowing and long.

“As a stylist, I would prefer to see Queen Camilla’s hemline come up just a little and see her wear more structured fabrics and more form-fitting sheath dresses like other royal ladies,” Dawkins explained.

She also likes to wear a matching coat with the dresses and “big and bold hats” according to the expert — like the hugely oversized, fur-rimmed one by Lock & Co that she wore during Ascot’s November Racing Weekend last year, according to Hello! Magazine.

During the evening time, she often wears the same style but items that are “full length” and “sequined,” per the style expert.

“For the evenings, she could try experimenting with more form-fitting, shorter-sleeve dresses, with her hemline lowered so her shoes are not showing,” Dawkins said.

Dawkins also added that she should try colors that are a bit bolder — and could even dare to change up the style of hats and other accessories that she wears.

“With hats and shoes, I would recommend trying more forward-facing hats, smaller ones also and not so decorative,” Dawkins suggested to the Daily Express.

“That said, hats should be playful, so have fun with them. Camilla’s shoes should also be slightly higher and a little bit more youthful.”

Typically, Camilla likes to wear a block-heeled pump from Chanel, according to Footwear News, something she’s been sporting for more than a decade.

Most recently, while appearing at Wimbledon this past week, Queen Camilla appears to have opted for one of her more typical outfits and silhouettes — a long, white tunic dress adorned with black striped piping.

During her husband’s historic coronation ceremony this past May at Westminster Abbey, she looked quite stylish in a dress fit for a queen — literally — wearing an elaborately beaded, long white dress by designer Bruce Oldfield.

The gown even included an embroidery of her own two dogs on the bottom of the dress hem.

Queen Camilla is quite particular when it comes to some aspects of her style.

But although the 76-year-old may stick to the same kinds of outfits, she’s been very clear about what she does and doesn’t like, at least when it comes to fashion and beauty.

While speaking to British Vogue in an interview last year, she declared that she absolutely despises anything that is in the color mauve — even dubbing it “menopausal mauve.”

She also bemoaned about the impracticality of fake nails, complaining that she lost them while she was gardening, and is furiously against ever having her ears pierced — the outlet insisted that she was “allergic to fuss.”

“For the evenings, she could try experimenting with more form-fitting, shorter-sleeve dresses, with her hemline lowered so her shoes are not showing,” Dawkins said.

“[The grandchildren] will try to persuade me, but nothing’s going to pierce my ears,” Camilla declared during the interview.

However, according to style expert Megan Watkins, who is the head stylist at SilkFred, there might be a particular reason for her specific style.

“Although some may say she doesn’t take enough risks with her fashion choices, it is obvious, through her style, that Camilla does not want to overshadow or stand out when attending royal events,” Watkins told the Daily Express.

But some may think her style is even more strategic — she donned Dior during the Royal Ascot last month just a few days after it was reported that the rumors of Meghan Markle partnering with the brand were not true.

She wore a custom-made milky white luxury coat, complete with a matching hat and dress for the event in Berkshire, England.
