Vijay Deverakonda received lukewarm response to his big Bollywood debut Liger. The Puri Jagannadh directorial failed to impress the audience thanks to its crappy screenplay, clichéd narration and dated plot. The film turned out to be a disaster at the box office amid the ‘Boycott Bollywood’ trend on social media. It is now being reported that Puri Jagannadh is planning to compensate the distributors for the film’s losses. According to Telugu 360, Dil Raju, who distributed Liger in Vizag, recently met Puri Jagannadh along with NV Prasad and informed him about the losses they incurred due to the failure of the film. Rumor has it that all the distributors will meet the director to make up for their losses. The report also states that Puri Jagannadh has apparently promised to do so and their meeting is expected to take place this week. Puri Jagannadh’s much awaited film starring Vijay Deverakonda and Ananya Panday was released globally with very high expectations. And if a report in Bollywood Hungama is to be believed, Karan Johar and Vijay weren’t too keen on bringing in Tyson for a whopping Rs 25 crore for his brief appearance. It was Puri Jagannadh who was keen to cast Tyson in the film to get international appeal.

Made on a budget believed to be around Rs 100 crore, Liger seems to be staring at the possibility of not being able to recoup the investment. With no competition this weekend and the Ganesh Chaturthi holiday in the middle of next, the Liger team is confident of recouping the cost of the film in the first two weeks.
