Prince Harry has given up trying to win over the British public as “sympathy has dried up” in the UK, a royal expert has said. Victoria Arbiter – daughter of the late Queen’s former press secretary, Dickie Arbiter – said the Duke of Sussex appeared to be “more interested” in “taking over the American market” ahead of the publication of several interviews with US media companies.

Harry Spare’s new memoir, which reveals intimate stories as well as new claims about royal life, has been met with anger by much of the British public despite Harry’s “die hard” fan base.

Many high-profile figures in Britain, such as former senior military officers, criticized the memoir. In particular, former British Army colonel Richard Kemp called it a “stab in the back.”

But speaking to Express.co.uk, Ms Arbiter said Harry was probably not too worried about public opinion in the UK as the country was a “done deal”. Instead, she believes he is headed for the US.

Trailers for several up close and personal interviews with the prince have been released online. Of the four interviews Harry has given in relation to his departure from the royal family, three have been based in the US.

In March 2021, Harry and Meghan sat down with American presenter Oprah Winfrey and now the prince is scheduled to appear in interviews on American television channels CBS and Good Morning America.

Ms Arbiter believes the switch to US media appearances is because he “needs sympathy from the US”.

She said: “Interestingly, of Harry’s four interviews that we know of so far, three of them are with the US.

According to The Mirror, Harry and Meghan’s deal with Netflix through their production company Archewell Productions is worth up to $100 million.

In November, 45 percent of people said they had a “favorable” or “very favorable” opinion of the Duke of Sussex. But after the film’s release last month, that dropped to 29 percent.

A representative YouGov survey of thousands of Britons also found Meghan and Harry’s popularity plummeted before the Netflix docu-series was released and has remained low ever since.

Although Harry has made several major claims against members of the royal family – such as Prince William attacking Harry – Ms Arbiter believes the public will not hear Buckingham Palace.

She added: “I really think Buckingham Palace will want to avoid getting involved in a public conversation about evil, all it does is fan the flames further, it drags the story out even longer.”

“If they say something, then Harry will come back and say something. And then suddenly we have the Welsh War of the early 1990s.”
