Prince Harry has taken another sensational turn in his attacks on the royal family – claiming he has “tremendous compassion” for his father’s wife Camilla, less than 12 hours after calling her “dangerous” and a “villain” in a 60 Minutes interview to promote his explosive new book.
The 38-year-old’s latest comments about the Queen Consort — whom he reveals in his memoir Spare he once considered an “evil stepmother” — came in a new meeting with GMA, his third pre-recorded interview in less than 24 hours.
Speaking to host Michael Strahan, who asked Harry ‘what [Camilla] has done’ to prompt both he and his brother to ‘beg’ Charles not to marry her, the Duke of Sussex insisted he actually sympathized with her role as the ‘third party in his parents’ marriage’, claiming, that he “doesn’t look upon her as an evil stepmother.”
“I feel a huge amount of compassion for her, you know, she’s the third person in my parents’ marriage,” Harry told Strahan – despite telling 60 Minutes’ Anderson Cooper last night that Camilla’s affair with Charles had made her a “villain”.
When asked how his relationship with Camilla is today, Harry admitted they “haven’t spoken for a long time” but added that he “loves every member of his family” and that when he and the Queen Consort “see each other, we are thoroughly enjoyable’.

The pleasantries he claims once existed between them may be a thing of the past, however, after Harry launched a furious attack on Camilla after ignoring his father’s plea not to attack his wife.
Harry told Cooper that the Queen consort was happy with bodies – including his own – “left on the street” as she tries to rebuild her image after her long relationship with King Charles while he was married to Princess Diana.
Referring to a 1995 interview in which his mother, Princess Diana, famously called Camilla “the third person in her marriage”, Harry said the admission had turned the now Queen Consort into a “villain”, adding: “She needed to rehabilitate her image”.
According to Harry, this desire to change her public image makes her “dangerous”.
“It made her dangerous because of the connections she was building in the British press,” he said.
“And there was an open willingness on both sides to trade information and with a family built on hierarchy, and with her about to become queen consort, there would be people or bodies left on the street because of that.”
The Duke also wrote in his memoir Spare that Camilla “sacrificed me on her personal PR altar” and revealed that he and William had asked Charles not to marry her and accused her of plotting to marry the current king and become queen consort.
Ironically, in the same breath that he told GMA that he felt “sympathy” for Camila, Harry doubled down on those claims that she was “peddling” stories with the press to “rehabilitate her image” after her affair was revealed with Charles.
“She had a reputation or an image that she needed to rehabilitate, and whatever talks, whatever deals or deals were made in the beginning, she was led to believe that would be the best way to do it,” he said.
He went on to suggest that Camilla has always only focused on herself – saying she “did everything she could” to “improve her own image… for herself”.

The Duke’s sensational public attack on Camilla was the latest in a series of jabs he has lobbed at his stepmother – having already painted what Cooper described as a very “unflattering picture” of her in his explosive memoir Spare, which coincidentally was released in Spain last week.
But just hours earlier, in a British interview which viewers said contained several contradictions, he told ITV’s Tom Bradby that he was not “scathing” at Camilla in his book.
Harry’s controversies also include denying previous claims that the royal family is racist.
Bradby was visibly stunned – as were millions of viewers – by his stark U-turn from previously inflammatory claims that an unnamed senior royal had raised concerns about his son Archie’s skin colour.
The broadcaster brought up Oprah’s interview with Meghan in 2021 and said: “You accused members of your family of racism.”
But Harry replied, “No, I’m not. That’s what the British press said.
There was further disbelief when Harry told Bradby that whatever he had to say to William in the future would remain “private”, despite using his memoirs, TV interviews, a Netflix documentary and a prime-time Oprah special to tell what his family said he and Meghan behind closed doors.
He also insisted to Cooper that he “never intended to hurt his family” with the content of his book.
The CBS interview came hours after a longer meeting in the UK with ITV, in which he told friend Bradby that his family was “complicit” in the “pain and suffering” caused to his wife Meghan and compared them to ” abusers”. .
He suggested that they helped “ruin” his and Meghan’s reputation, forcing them to move to California, and did not “show a desire to reconcile.”
Harry also said there were “a lot of stereotypes” about Meghan after she was introduced to the royal family because she is a “divorced, biracial American actress”. But in an interview fraught with controversy, he later insisted the royals were not racist – despite the accusation being at the heart of Sussex’s interview with Oprah in 2021.
