Paige Spiranac, the popular golf influencer with a massive following on social media, will be noticeably absent from this year’s American Century Championship (ACC).
Held at Lake Tahoe from July 12-16, the tournament is set to hold its 34th annual edition.
It also boasts an impressive lineup of sports celebrities, including Steph Curry, Charles Barkley, and Tony Romo. However, the reason behind Spiranac’s exclusion has left many flabbergasted.
A Shocking Exclusion
In an Instagram story, Spiranac expressed her disappointment at not being invited back to the ACC, citing an unusual explanation from the event organizers.
The amateur golfer also revealed that she was told she didn’t generate enough exposure on social media, despite her posts garnering a whopping four million impressions.
Spiranac humorously added, “I guess 4 million impressions wasn’t good enough lol.” It’s a puzzling reason, considering her immense online following and influence within the golfing community.
Social Media Standards too high?
With over 3.8 million followers on Instagram, Paige Spiranac has been a trailblazer in the realm of golf influencers.
At the end of the day, it is shocking that Spiranac was left out, especially when you take into account has more Instagram followers than Tiger Woods himself, not to mention other big-name golfers like Rory McIlroy and Brooks Koepka.
Her influence is just too massive to ignore, making it pretty hard to argue that she isn’t a major player in the celebrity golfing world.
