‘Nope’ – IMAX Featurette Previews the Massive Scope of Jordan Peele’s Biggest Movie to Date

Jordan Peele is promising “awe, fear and wonder” in his upcoming third horror movie Nope, filmed with IMAX film cameras and representing Peele’s most ambitious effort to date.

Universal will be releasing Nope in theaters on July 22, 2022. The film is being referred to in official press materials as “a new pop nightmare” and “an expansive horror epic.”

But just how expansive can you expect Nope to be? Check out the brand new IMAX featurette below, which previews the next-level immersion of Peele’s Summer Horror Blockbuster!

“IMAX is movie magic pushed to its limit. When you see a film in an IMAX theater, it feels like you are there. It’s complete immersion, and there’s nothing quite like it,” Peele says.

In the film, “Residents in a lonely gulch of inland California who bear witness to an uncanny and chilling discovery.”

Daniel Kaluuya (Get Out) will be reteaming with Peele on the mysterious movie, with the cast also including Steven Yeun (“The Walking Dead,” Mayhem) and Keke Palmer (“Scream”). Michael Wincott (The Crow), Barbie Ferreira and Brandon Perea also star.

Nope is part of a “five-year exclusive production partnership” Universal Pictures inked with Peele and his Monkeypaw Productions, and it’s been described as a “horror event.” Mind you, anything from Peele at this point is instantly an event, but we can probably expect Nope to be Peele’s biggest movie to date, with an announced IMAX optimization. On that note, the film’s cinematographer is Hoyte van Hoytema, whose previous work includes Let the Right One InSpectre, and the Christopher Nolan films InterstellarDunkirk, and Tenet.
