New Orleans Saints with respect to Tyrani Matthew’s personal matters

[ad_1]

Family comes first. A player’s mental health is important. right

The Who Dat Nation needs to sit back, take a deep breath, relax and let Tyrann Mathie handle his family business. Fans have to appreciate the way the Saints and Mathieu handled the situation.

NO SCHEDULE

At the start of training camp, the New Orleans Saints head coach told reporters that Mathieu was not in attendance because: “He’s dealing with a personal matter and so we’re going to let him do that. He’ll come back when he’s done ready to come back.” Again, after Saturday’s training camp session, Allen responded to a question about Mathieu’s timetable to return by saying, “I don’t.”

FANS REACT DIRECTLY

On Saturday afternoon, Saints Twitter (yes, it’s a thing, and it’s huge) erupted in over-the-top reactions, innuendo and conspiracy theories after the All-Pro safety deleted his Saints- and Chiefs-related Instagram posts.

We often forget that footballers have personal things outside the grid and dressing rooms. It’s his right to post or remove whatever he wants – that doesn’t mean he’s no longer with the team. Quarterback Kyler Murray dusted off his content for the Cardinals this offseason, stayed in Arizona and later last week received a massive $200 million + contract extension.

DON’T FORGET THE HUMAN ELEMENT

Athletes are men who go through injuries, pains, trials and tribulations just like you and me – Mathieu is no different. I know players of his stature or revered as almost “superhumans”, but he is still human. Saints are patient. The media and fans also need to be patient. No need to overreact.

If Tyrann Mathieu chooses to make it as a player for the New Orleans Saints this season, we’ll applaud him. If he decides to retire from the game and deal with life issues indefinitely, we should celebrate that too.

He was born in New Orleans and is a great player; it’s time to support. At the end of the day or career, life will always be more important than football.

For now, Mathieu deserves his personal space. When will he come back?

We will see.
