Celebrities are over the moon for these oversized shoes.
While we’re almost two weeks into 2023, stars like Dua Lipa, Hailey Bieber and Heidi Klum have all been slipping on a snow-ready style from another era: Moon Boots.
The retro footwear — which debuted in 1969 and features a rubber sole inspired by that year’s moon landing — first experienced a resurgence in the early aughts on stars like Paris Hilton, who rocked a pair in (of course) pink.
Now, perhaps following in Uggs’ fluffy footsteps, the après-ski style is having a comeback in Hollywood.
Just ask Hailey Bieber, who rang in the new year in pink Icon Low Moon Boots ($175) paired with a Mugler minidress ($1,370) that spotlighted another Y2K trend: the exposed thong.
Perhaps she snagged some undies from set, as she previously modeled the shoes — and little else — in a 2022 campaign for Victoria’s Secret.
Dua Lipa is also a fan of the futuristic footwear, having sported a white, crystal-covered pair in an Instagram Story in late December and a bright red style similar to the Icon Low 2 Snow Boots ($175) earlier in the year.
The star’s also seemingly set “New Rules” for what to wear with snow boots, having once paired the now-sold-out Hello Kitty Faux Fur Moon Boots ($200) with a bikini for a series of snaps in 2021.
Tracee Ellis Ross and Alessandra Ambrosio, meanwhile, stick to the snow with theirs; the “Black-ish” star seemingly sported the lime green Icon Nylon Snow Boots ($185) in an Instagram video last month, while the supermodel went pantsless in a parka with her faux fur-trimmed pair.
The boot brand has also collaborated with a myriad of designers over the years, producing styles like the Jimmy Choo version Heidi Klum rocked while hitting the ski slopes this week.
It’s safe to say stars won’t be giving these snow shoes the boot anytime soon.
