Mamata Mohandas has announced that she has been diagnosed with an autoimmune disease called vitiligo. She took to her Instagram account to talk about her illness. After Samantha Ruth Prabhu, the Malayalam actress was diagnosed with an autoimmune disease.
In Prithviraj Sukumaran’s hit film Jana Gana Mana Mamata plays an important role. The movie released last year 2022 also starring Prithviraj Sukumaran. Mamata Mohandas recently battled Hodgkin’s lymphoma. She has always been open about it, sharing updates about her health.
Giving an update on the vitiligo she is currently undergoing, Mamta waxed poetic about her battle journey. Writing a letter to an anonymous, she wrote the caption in a sweet story. Beginning the caption, addressing loved ones along with a sunshine emoji, she wrote that she is embracing the disease like never before. Battling the disease, Mamata also lost her color.
The moment she shared the news on social media, fans and friends from the industry started showering with love and praise. While some encouraged her, others called her a fighter. People appreciated her for embracing what might come. The actress is a true warrior who has battled cancer, lymphoma, and now vitiligo.
Vitiligo is an autoimmune disease that causes patchy loss of skin color. It causes the skin cells that produce melatonin to die or stop functioning. A person affected by the disease suffers from a condition that is neither life-threatening nor contagious. The parts of the body that are severely affected are the arms, legs, hands, face and feet. Worldwide, 1% of people are reported to have vitiligo.
Mamata Mohandas is the second actor after Samantha Ruth Prabhu to open up about an autoimmune disease. Not only has she battled lymphoma, but she is also a cancer survivor. Mohandas made his debut in 2005 with Mayookham directed by Hariharan. She has worked in more than 55 films including Victory, King, Passenger, Kadha Thudarunnu, Musafir, Kedi and Race.
