“I’ve been waiting to answer that,” Raven said. “I consider myself a black woman. So this is insulting to me. Also, I settled on an African. So I’m just confused why they talk about race like we don’t have diversity on the show.
“I like that it’s a topic of discussion, but for me, actually being there, I’d like to suggest that this demographic of women hasn’t been able to make successful relationships not because of the color of their skin or their production, but maybe because of men who were on the other side of the wall. I’m not throwing anyone under the bus, but we need to build relationships across a wall. And if you can’t do that because the people on the other side don’t care about what you have to offer, then you’re not part of the story. I hate this. This is how the cookie crumbled and I’d like to talk about it more.
“It’s not that anyone was edited out, there were no other couples that came out of the show – other than the ones you saw. I was honestly surprised—it was one of the most diverse casts I’ve ever seen, there were so many other black women, and it was so much fun to have that experience with them. But unfortunately, there weren’t many men chosen on the other side who weren’t looking for that. There are receipts for some of these guys specifically saying it’s not something they’re looking for. So I think that’s what we should be talking about.”
