The sheer fact that The Rings of Power takes its time to build the story, does not make the series a bad one, for it does what it is supposed to very very well. Keeping in mind what we’ve seen Tolkien do, the series is every bit of a treat to the fans, and if one gives time, it would surely pull up some non-LOTR fans as well!

Right from the first visuals of the tree of light to the scenes of Galadriel fighting the waves in the Sundering Seas, every frame is breathtaking. The series also doesn’t have the constant sense of foreboding that we are so used to in Game of Thrones and the like, but maintains enough suspense for you to want to come back for more. The show does have the usual tropes of a fantasy adventure. There is an evil to be fought, some are in denial, some are trying to run away from it and some are willing to face it head on.

One thing to note is that the show, which is stirred well with an element of mystery and suspense, has updated with the changing times, as it brings forward a more inclusive world. With emotional core, the two episodes set the pace for the story, all it needs to do going forward is gain some speed.

The Rings of Power is the biggest mounting for streaming in recent times and if you have been bitten by the Tolkien bug, then there is no chance you will be able to evade the elvish spell the series casts on you. And if you are eager to draw parallels to the movies, then I leave you with a quote from a wise man – Gandalf the Grey, “For even the very wise cannot see all ends!.”
