The two major big films of the year ‘Thunivu’ and ‘Varisu’ were released in theatres on January 11, 2023. Both the films were received well and it is expected that the box office collection of the movies together will cross Rs 150 crore in the first weekend.
In a tragic incident on January 11 in Chennai, a 19-year-old boy who was celebrating the film’s FDFS, succumbed to injuries after falling down from a Lorry. Speaking to the media about the incident, director Lokesh Kanagaraj requested the fans to be careful and responsible with their life. He reportedly requested the fans to realise their responsibilities and asked them to see the film as just a cinema and entertainment and added that there’s no need to lose one’s life while celebrating a movie. Director Lokesh reportedly said that the fans should watch the film happily and go back home safely and said that there is no need for one to risk their life for the sake of celebration.

According to reports, a young boy dancing above a lorry crossing the lane near Rohini theatre in Chennai fell down from the truck and injured his spinal cord. Reportedly, the boy is said to be a fan of actor Ajith and was present at the theatre to watch the FDFS of ‘Thunivu’. Directed by H Vinoth, the movie is a bank heist thriller featuring Ajith and Manju Warrier in lead roles.
The director also watched Vijay’s ‘Varisu’ FDFS in the theatre on January 11. Directed by Vamshi Paidipally, ‘Varisu’ is a family drama that stars Vijay and Rashmika Mandanna in the lead roles. On the work front, Lokesh Kanagaraj is now shooting for his next tentatively titled ‘Thalapathy 67’ with Vijay in the lead role. The movie is said to be part of the Lokesh Cinematic Universe, including the films ‘Kaithi’ and ‘Vikram’.
