Liverpool FC – Andy Robertson on beating Leipzig, Nunes, training camp and five years at LFC

It always takes time to get used to new additions. We’ve all been through it ourselves, so it’s no different. Maybe there is external pressure on him in terms of the fee and all that, but for us it doesn’t matter. People come with small fees, big fees – it doesn’t matter. We know they have to take time to get used to our system, get used to our style of play, get used to how we want them to play and things like that.

He’s adapting, getting fitter, getting stronger – as we all are in pre-season – and he needs time to adapt. Today will do him a lot of good. Today will give him a lot of confidence in goal and all that is obviously so important for a striker. So we’re happy with it and don’t have any concerns about it. But it’s just about spending a bit of time with him, having a bit of patience and we have and hopefully the Liverpool fans have too.

Moving on to Austria and training camp, I know the boss really likes to work really hard on that over the next week or so. Are you looking forward to it?

I don’t think any of us are looking forward to Austria! It’s always when it steps up a little bit, it’s always a little bit harder and things like that – but it’s so important. The foundations are always laid there. It used to be Evian, now it’s Austria and it’s exactly the same – tough sessions trying to get us closer to where we need to be for the first game of the season.

So all I’m thinking about is by the end of the week we’re in a much better position. This is the only way to overcome it. But we’re looking forward to it, the good team bonding, trying to get through it together, push each other, get stronger together and everything like that. It’s good, it’s not nice, but it’s always good and we look forward to the hard work. Like I said, by the time we fly home, we’ll be in a much better place for the start of the season.
