Fashion week may have wrapped up in most parts of the world but it only kickstarted on October12 in Mumbai. Day 1 opened with a phenomenal show by Ak-Ok. The collection featured 3D floral shapes, fluidity in tailoring, contrasting with structure sometimes, appearances of yellows and reds, and the use of black, indigo and emerald. From draped dresses to pajama sets, the collection features innovative ways of draping with a splash of colours on fluid silhouettes. and wrapped up with Shantnu and Nikhil’s statement-making show where Kriti Sanon turned show stopper. The collection traced the opulence during the Baroque Era and its majestic artefact: The Chandelier. Day 2 was dedicated to sustainability and saw stellar collections by Anju Modi, Abraham and Thakore and Satya Paul. It seems like the weekend promises to be full of fashion news updates.
Thom Browne become chairman of The Council of Fashion Designers of America, Inc (CDFA)
This is one of the biggest news updates in the fashion industry. After his three year tenure, Tom Ford has been the chairman of CDFA, but after stepping down in May 2022, Thom Browne will take his role as the next chairman. It is a big move in the world of fashion and we can’t wait to see what Browne will bring to the table. He will take on the new role effective January 1, 2023.
Urwerk Geneve’s unorthodox timepiece
Talk of pathbreaking designs and inventions and Urwerk Geneve’s watch will top the charts. The newly launched open-satellite design adds to the collection of unorthodox timekeepers by the designer. Known as Spock, the UR-120’s new open satellite has a V-shaped open hand and relies on rotating satellites which split open so they can spin, each on their own axis. This first edition of the UR-120 is finished in sandblasted titanium and steel. Interspersed with shards of gold in the satellite display. This new time machine will be limited by production and is retailing for a whopping $101,000 USD.
Ford’s new supercar the GT LM Edition
Ford has unveiled a new supercar the GT LM Edition, which will be the final version of the supercar built before it goes out of production later this year. Being the 3rd-gen supercar it celebrates America’s only 24 Hours of Le Mans-winning race car that won in 2016 and the historic 1-2-3 podium sweep in 1966.
Cartier is hosting a La Panthère exhibition in Singapore
This is one of the most awaited exhibitions regarding luxury news updates. Luxury brand Cartier is hosting an experimental exhibition in Singapore from October,16 – October, 20 at the Gardens By the Bay. The show will celebrate the watch and jewellery brand’s iconic motif the Panthère.
