Umling La, the highest motorable road in the world at 19,022 feet, will host a special fashion display as part of the Ladakh International Music Festival (LIMF), which will return in 2023.
This year’s Ladakh International Fashion Runway is slated to take place some time between August 23 and September 3. The event is a G20-inspired initiative from the Ladakh Art and Entertainment Alliance (LAEA), and it aims to reflect that spirit.
Women leaders from G20 member nations and invited nations, including Miss Universe delegates, Miss World and Miss Earth delegates from around the world, will participate in the program and will share their thoughts on empowerment and peace.
Miss Earth India Vanshika Parmar, Miss Earth Italy Giulia Ragazzini, Miss Earth USA Lindsey Coffey, Miss Universe Japan Yuumi Kato, Miss Earth UK Luissa Burton, Miss Earth Germany Annabella Fleck, and Miss World Bangladesh Rafah Nanjeba Torsa are just a few of the gorgeous women who are reportedly attending the festivities.
Tashi Gyalson, Chairman of the Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council (LAHDC), is delighted as they get set to hold the event in Ladakh and in a media briefing, he emphasised the need of linking local values to global decisions and promoting the notion of ‘Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam,’ a Sanskrit word that translates to “the world is one family.”
Interestingly, each international model participating in the fashion show will provide 50 grams of sand from their own nation. After the event, this sand will be combined with concrete and poured into a “Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam” pre-made artistic mould, symbolizing unity and reflecting the G20 ethos.
LAEA co-founder and LIMF founder Sushil Chaudhary highlighted the festival’s continued engagement with the Indian Army and the LAHDC. “This year, we are excited to incorporate the new Ladakh Fashion Runway, making the event even more expansive and memorable,” he added.
