Having made her entry as a ‘Param Sundari’, Kriti played a girl carrying hopes of making it big in the Bollywood industry. She even decides to carry a baby in her womb to fulfil her dreams. That’s when the entire chaos begins as Mimi finds herself in the conditions of being a surrogate mother. Despite her tough journey, her character made us laugh, made us cry, and she made us feel the sentiments of a mother and a child.
Kriti had opened up about her role in one of the interviews saying, “Every character is different. Mimi’s story was heart-touching, it made me laugh, and cry and I felt a rollercoaster of emotions. The character is very distant from me in terms of the dialect, the place and more. I related to her dream of wanting to be an actor, of willing to take risks. But her life flips when she is not prepared to be a mother but has to turn into one. I couldn’t relate to that but that’s when I talked to my director Laxman Utekar Sir to understand my character better. I was told that a mother’s love is unconditional. I think every woman has a motherly instinct. I love kids. As for the characters, I try to understand them, their journeys.”
The audience too developed a distinct connection with Mimi. Furthermore, the actress also swept many eminent Awards for Best Actress for her performance in Mimi, ranging from IIFA to Filmfare. Mimi also featured Pankaj Tripathi, Sai Tamhankar, Manoj Pahwa, and Supriya Pathak in pivotal roles and it released directly on Netflix owing to the pandemic.
