KHNAM wants personal interviews to be abolished

SHILLONG:

The Khun Hynñiewtrep National Awakening Movement (KHNAM) has reaffirmed its stand to abolish personal interviews for Group B, C and D posts.

KHNAM Youth Wing President Thomas Pas pointed out that the central government had released a notification scrapping the personal interview dated November 16, 2015.

“The main principle behind eliminating personal interviews is to stop nepotism during recruitment for government jobs,” Pasach said.

He also stated that according to the central government notification, the personal interview is a waste of time for the officials of various departments and also a waste of public money.

As such, the Center has abolished personal interviews in 23 states of the country from January 1, 2016, he said.

He reminded the government that KHNAM had sent a memorandum that Meghalaya should also follow the centre’s notification so that recruitment to government posts in various departments is not one-sided and biased towards some candidates.

Pasah also called for a proper recruitment policy in the state – alleging that unemployed youth fill job application forms only to receive call letters after three years.

“The recruitment policy will have a [standard operating procedure]so that there is a time frame between the advertisement, the written test and the announcement of the results and at the same time the appointment,” he said.

Pasah added that the recruitment of civil servants is not systematic and organized and thus instills very little confidence in the youth.
