Katrina Kaif and Janhvi Kapoor’s films fail to draw crowds to the theatres; perform below average

This Friday, two Bollywood films clashed at the box office. Katrina Kaif, Ishaan Khatter and Siddhant Chaturvedi lead Phone Bhoot faced with Janhvi Kapoor lead Dear. Both the films received positive reviews from the audience. While Phone Bhoot tickled the audience’s funny bones, Mili left fans emotional. However, at the box office, both the films are having a tough time doing numbers. They got off to a slow start at the box office and are now struggling to make money.

On Day 2, that is first Saturday, Phone Bhoot made an estimated Rs 2.55 crore as reported by India Today. The film’s two-day total now stands at Rs 4.60 crore. There was also a low employment rate. On the other hand, Janhvi Kapoor’s Mili underperformed Phone Bhoot on Day 2. Mili reportedly collected Rs 0.60 crore on its second day. With this, the total of this movie is just Rs 1.10 crore. Weekends are generally considered good for films, but Phone Bhoot and Mili are not performing well at the box office. Apart from these two films, Double XL starring Huma Qureshi and Sonakshi Sinha also hit the theaters on Friday.

Earlier, Akshay Kumar’s Ram Setu and Ajay Devgn-Sidharth Malhotra’s Thank God clashed at the box office. The movies were released during Diwali week and managed to get decent numbers. Definitely much better than Phone Bhoot and Mili.

Kantara wins hearts

Bollywood films are witnessing a lot of competition from South Indian films. Rishab Shetty’s Kantara is still doing well at the box office despite releasing on September 30. The Hindi dubbed version of the film also performed well as it crossed the Rs 50 crore mark. In recent times, Bollywood films have found it difficult to reach this figure.
