Much has been said and written about who will play the role of Dev in Ayan Mukerji’s directorial Brahmastra 2, which stars Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt. Recent reports suggest that KGF star Yash has been roped in to portray the character. Karan Johar has now broken his silence on Dev’s casting.
When Subhash K Jha contacted the head of Dharma Productions to confirm reports that Yash was being considered for Dev in Brahmastra 2, Karan dismissed the rumours, saying, “It’s all nonsense. We haven’t turned to anyone.”
It was earlier said that the makers of Brahmastra wanted to rope in Hrithik Roshan as Dev. However, reports suggest that he is already packed with two VFX heavy films, Krrish 4 and Ramayana, so he apparently turned down the film offer.
However, this new report states that the makers are still considering Hrithik and he is one of the top contenders for the role. Hrithik is also very excited to portray the character. But the chances seem slim as Hrithik will be busy with his own Krrish superhero franchise. If Krrish 4 goes on floors in the next 6 months, it is highly unlikely that Hrithik will give his nod to the project.
On the other hand, Ranveer Singh is eyeing Dev if Hrithik decides to call it quits. Earlier reports suggested that Ranveer and Deepika Padukone will lead the cast, along with the pair Ranbir and Alia from Part 1. Although Ranbir and Alia will be seen as their respective characters from Part 1, it is yet to be confirmed whether Ranveer and Deepika are making the film.
