Bimbisara is one of the most awaited movies in the Telugu film industry. Starring Kalyan Ram, Catherine Tresa and Samyukta Menon in lead roles, the film is a period film based on the life of Bimbisara, king of Magadha.
What are you talking about
Bimbisara is a ruthless king of the kingdom of Trigarthala. He is evil and his only motto is to conquer kingdoms without any mercy. But the twist here is that he is cursed. His life changes and he returns to the present day with his life full of problems. What is this curse? What is the relationship between the past and the present? Who is Bimbisara in the first place? To know the answers, you have to watch the movie on the big screens.
What’s new?
Director Vasishta is making his debut with this movie and all the credit for making such a movie goes to him.
He wrote an interesting story that mixed the concept of time travel with a touch of fantasy and contemporary emotions. This in itself is a new experience for the audience.
Kalyan Ram has been a hit with this movie and kudos to him for taking the whole movie on his shoulders. As a ruthless king, he looks great. The negative undertones are portrayed well. Be it his expressions or his body language as a king, Kalyan Ram is top notch. At this stage in his career, he has come up with such a subject, taking a risk with a debutant.
Music is an asset of the film and thanks to MM Keeravani for never letting the audience down.
Catherine Theresa is good as a princess. After a long time Srinivas Reddy gets a good role and entertains the audience.
The entire first half is created well and the best part of it is the time travel without losing the logic. The sitcom after the king has landed these days is also pretty good. The VFX in the movie is awesome and will leave you impressed with a lot of suspense.

What is not?
This movie is all about the character. So the heroines don’t really have much to do here. The second half is quite slow and the character named Bimbisara needs a bit more establishment. Once the twists are revealed, you can predict the rest of the story. The hero’s second character also needs some development.
One of the biggest flaws is the main villain, who is weak. A proper Telugu actor with more intensity would have changed the world of the film.
BL Judgment
With a new age story and some amazing VFX, this movie is worth watching this weekend.
