In an interview, Javed Akhtar was questioned about Kangana Ranaut’s recent support of him for his comments denouncing the 26/11 terror attacks. The incident took place in Pakistan’s Lahore during the Faiz Festival. While Kangana, who frequently spars with Javed, commended him for his remarks. It appears that the lyricist wasn’t really moved by her response because he declined to discuss it. In 2020, lyricist Javed Akhtar filed a defamation lawsuit against actress Kangana Ranaut.
Taking to Twitter on Tuesday, Kangana had reposted a video of Javed Akhtar’s comments, and wrote, “Jab main Javed saab ki poetry sunti hoon toh lagta tha yeh kaise Maa Swarsati ji ki in pe itni kripa hai, lekin dekho kuch toh sachchai hoti hai insaan mein tabhi toh khudai hoti hai unke saath mein … Jai Hind @Javedakhtarjadu saab… Ghar mein ghuss ke maara .. ha ha.”
Javed Akhtar dismissed the question of Kangana’s remark while speaking with NDTV. When he was questioned by a reporter again, he answered, “I don’t consider Kangana important so how can she make an important remark. Forget about her. Chaliye aage (Let’s move forward).”
For the unversed, in an event, Javed had said, “The attackers weren’t from Norway, or from Egypt. They are still present in your country, so you should not be offended if an Indian complains about this.” He added that while India has hosted several Pakistani artists in the past, Pakistan has never hosted singer Lata Mangeshkar.
