James Gunn Gives Update On DC Movies

James Gunn finally addressed several ongoing reports about DC Movies Wonder Woman, Superman And Black Adam. The director took to Twitter and responded to an article detailing the future of DC Films, more than a month after he was announced as a co-chair of the film subsidiary with producer Peter Safran.

An article in The Hollywood Reporter indicated that ahead of a presentation to Warner Bros. Discovery head David Zaslav, Gunn and Safran could be making big changes to franchises surrounding characters such as Wonder Woman, Superman and Black Adam. Gunn said in a series of tweets, ‘So. As for the story yesterday in the Hollywood Reporter, some of it is true, some of it is half-true, some of it is not true, & some of it we haven’t decided yet whether it’s true or not.’

The director explained that he and Safran ‘chose to helm DC Studios knowing ‘they were coming into a fractious environment, both in the stories being told & in the audience itself & there would be an unavoidable transitional period as we moved into telling a cohesive story across film, TV, animation, and gaming.’

He added that ‘in the end, the drawbacks of that transitional period were dwarfed by the creative possibilities & the opportunity to build upon what has worked in DC so far & to help rectify what has not.’ However, while talking about the future of DCU, The Guardian Of The Galaxy filmmaker asked fans to wait as he and Safran ‘are giving these characters & the stories the time & attention they deserve.

For the unversed, the latest report by THR suggests that DC Studios was unlikely to make the film Wonder Woman 3 with director Patty Jenkins and star Gal Gadot. The report also claims that another Superman film starring Henry Cavill might not happen, and a sequel to Black Adam was ‘unlikely’ based on the film’s profitability.
