Caitlin Foord has loved every minute of her time in north London – and now she’s here to stay.

The Australia international joined us in January 2020, desperate to rediscover her love for the beautiful game, and over the last two years, she found her smile again and looked sharper than ever before on the pitch.

We spoke to Foord after signing her new contract and this is what she had to say:

on signing a new contract…
It feels amazing, since I’ve joined this club I’ve absolutely fallen in love with being here, and I think I mentioned in one of my early interviews that I kind of lost my way in football, and since being here, as I said, I’ve absolutely fallen in love and I’ve found myself again, and found myself in love with the game again.

on why Arsenal is the right place for her development…
I think it’s from day one, just walking out onto the fields and seeing the facilities that we have here and watching the quality from the group in the sessions, you improve every day, I’ve become a better player and person since I’ve been here.

on the togetherness and unity within our team…
It’s an incredible group to be a part of, full of amazing people, and it makes it that much more enjoyable coming in everyday, and even off the field being around these girls, good people and incredible players – to be around these types of people day in day out, you can only improve being here.

on scoring twice in the north London derby knowing she was staying…
Yeah, that was incredible, to play in the Emirates in front of the fans there and on a stage like that like you said, the North London derby, it was really special, and yeah, the win was the most important

on how Jonas Eidevall has challenged and developed her as a player…
He demands a lot and expects a lot from us as players, and you’ve seen in our game the work-rate has definitely gone up, and it’s almost tiring teams out, normally with the ball but also off the ball now as well you know, making them run around and chase us – yeah the game’s developing and that makes me excited for what’s to come.

on the fans playing a big part in her decision to stay…
Yeah they definitely have, it’s incredible to have that and to feel that from the fans, definitely is felt, every home game they’re there supporting us and on social media whatever it’s been, through the Covid time and stuff like that, but yeah , I love the club and the community as much as they love us, so yeah it’s exciting.

on whether there’s a feeling that we need to kick on next season…
Yeah most definitely, I think we’ve been inching towards winning lots of silverware, and that’s definitely going to be the plan for next year, we want to win multiple trophies and I think with the squad, the team, the players, the support we have; we have the squad to be able to do it.
