Seann Walsh was terrified of getting backlash on I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! after having such a ‘bad’ experience on Strictly Come Dancing.
The 37-year-old comedian, who left the jungle in fifth place, hit the headlines in October 2018 when he was pictured kissing his professional partner, Katya Jones, who was at the time married to fellow pro, Neil Jones.
At the time of the scandal, Seann was in a relationship with actress Rebecca Humphries, who said the photos emerged on her birthday, which she had been forced to spend alone.
Since exiting the I’m A Celebrity camp, Seann, said it was his pregnant partner, Grace Adderley, who encouraged him to take part in the ITV series after being left scared to partake in reality shows.
‘Grace said to me “This is a once-in-a-lifetime chance. The adventure itself will make it worthwhile” – and she was absolutely right,’ he shared.
Seann continued to Hello! magazine: ‘I was so petrified of getting backlash. I’d had such a bad experience with all the things that were said about me last time (I did a reality show), the idea of that happening again was terrifying.’
The comic opened up to Coronation Street actress Sue Cleaver about his Strictly affair while living in the I’m A Celebrity jungle.
Sue asked: ‘Why did that crucify you? Why did that have such an impact?’
‘To be totally honest with you, my poor ex, my girlfriend at the time, posted a statement,’ Seann replied, referring to the statement in which Humphries claimed his behaviour was controlling.
‘My girlfriend [at the time] posted a statement and that was the end of me.’
Seann added: ‘I said sorry. I sat on Jonathan Ross’s TV show and apologised. I sat next to will.i.am and Samuel L. Jackson and apologised. That will forever be the weirdest moment of my life and I have to say probably the worst moment of my life.’
Speaking in the Bush Telegraph, Seann went on to express his sincere apologies before sharing his hopes of moving past the scandal.
‘That’s something in my life that I don’t want to go back to,’ he said.
‘Obviously, I knew it would come up. They come up so naturally here. I just want to move on. It’s really nice to have people that will listen and are so lovely and wonderful.
‘I just want to be clear in that I’m very sorry about what happened and I really want this to be a positive experience and it really has been. I want to come out of here and move forward.’
I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! is available to stream on ITVX.
