This week’s new Bollywood film, Vikram Vedhaa, did not start on a favorable note at the box office. The Hrithik Roshan and Saif Ali Khan leading role, dir Pushkar Gayahtriwho was also the author of the original Vikram Vedha in tamil, saw a low occupancy of only 15-20% from the morning shows alone and failed to get the necessary push into the evening and night shows to finish more in line with what the trade and industry had hoped for. The Vikram Vedha Collection Box Day 1 got off to a double-digit start, but just barely, and will now need huge jumps into the weekend.

The trade was hoping that Vikram Vedha would open to a minimum of ₹14-15 crore nett opening to grow steadily over the weekend and have a chance to be another rare hit at Hindi film industry this year. However, the troubling signs started from the morning itself after the Hrithik Roshan and Saif Ali Khan starrer, post which all eyes were on the film to spot it in the evening and night shows if it had any chance of sticking around in the long run. Alas, this was not to be as the much needed push failed to come.

Vikram Vedha collected only ₹10.45 crore nett on day 1, way below the desired result and it will be very tough from here on. Some multiplexes in the bigger centers performed decently, but overall the opening was well below par, especially in the mass pockets. The opening is similar to that of Shamshera and Samrat Prithviraj and actually underperformed the former on Day 1 in important markets like Gujarat and Maharashtra. Still, with the film doing marginally better than the other two at the bigger multiplexes, there is little chance of it doing better than them in the coming days.
