How Harry Styles became the ultimate fashion inspiration for celebs

From his statement dresses and skirts to his vibrant fur coats and elegant pearl necklaces, Harry Styles’ daring fashion often ensures he’s the centre of attention.

So, perhaps it’s no wonder that his style is now being emulated by A-listers across Hollywood – including by the likes of Shawn Mendes, Gigi Hadid and Austin Butler.

His love for sleek blazers and pussybow blouses has even seemingly rubbed off on the Royal Family – after the Princess of Wales, 40, was spotted in a similar plum ensemble previously worn by the flamboyant singer.

Celebrity stylist Miranda Holder told FEMAIL how Harry has ‘inspired celebrities globally, to also be more free with expressing who they are with their wardrobes’.

She noted how Brad Pitt was spotted in July attending the Bullet Train screening in Berlin in an eye-catching, knee-length skirt, while Oscar Isaac looked more debonair than ever at the Moon Knight screening at The British Museum in London in March.

The Star Wars actor, 43, sported a grey blazer, crisp white shirt and black tie – and ensured all eyes were on him by also opting to wear a matching grey kilt, showing off his smart black boots and socks underneath.

Harry was spotted in an alike ensemble in 2018 when performing in Glasgow; he donned a kilt, with knee-high socks and a bag which he slung across his lower body.

Meanwhile, Gigi channelled the former One Direction singer in Ocotber 2022 as she rocked a blue velvet suit, which resembled the sapphire Gucci blazer and trousers worn by Harry in September 2020.

Gigi isn’t the only woman to have seemingly embraced Harry’s fashion sense – with Demi Lovato, Amanda Holden and Olivia Attwood (pictured right in November 2022) all wearing matching outfits to the singer (pictured left in September 2022)

Olivia appeared to channel the popular artist when hitting the red carpet at the Who Cares Wins Awards 2022 in London in November 2022.

The former Love Island contestant, 31, looked chic in an oversized black jacket which boasted double-breasted buttons and shiny satin lapels.

Olivia teamed her jacket with matching trousers and layered it over a light blue shirt and quirky ribbon tie. Harry wore a similar shirt and blazer combo to the Don’t Worry Darling premiere in Venice in September 2022.

Elsewhere, the glamorous radio presenter Amanda embraced the festive spirit earlier this month in a bright pink, sequin-emblazoned jumpsuit, which she teamed with a dusty pink faux fur coat.

The look was reminiscent of the ensemble donned by Harry at Coachella 2022. The star went onstage in head-to-toe pink, sporting metallic pink trousers and a matching waistcoat, as well as a dramatic feather coat.

London-based stylist Miranda said: ‘Harry Styles has not only set the music industry on fire, but the worlds of fashion and celebrity are blazing with Styles-mania too.

‘Over the years, he has embodied blissful sartorial freedom, breaking down gender boundaries and more, as he wows us with every breathtaking look. Living up to his surname, has started a fashion movement all of his own.

‘Harry will be remembered as a true fashion icon, there is a genuine excitement around whatever or whoever he will be wearing next and he literally surprises and delights us every time.

‘He embodies the “post-pandemic new world” of gender fluidity and self expression… and as a showman offers up a myriad of looks.’

She continued: ‘Through being the ultimate style experimenter, Harry has inspired celebrities globally, to also be more free with expressing who they are with their wardrobes.

‘Thanks to his influence, the sartorial playing field has exploded. Celebrities who used to stick to the sometimes staid and formulaic styling guidelines have followed suit and we have seen everyone getting creative from Brad Pitt wearing skirts on the red carpet to Shawn Mendes blurring his gender boundaries and wearing pearls and pussy bows.

‘From being a Gucci muse to adorning pearls as the ultimate accessory, Harry has proven he has the X-Factor when it comes to fashion this year – and I can’t wait to see what 2023 holds for him,’ concluded the stylist.

Stylist Rochelle White said celebrities are channelling Harry’s fashion taste because he has ‘broken down “the norm” and created his own genre’.

‘Harry has become a fashion icon due to the fact that he dresses to express who he is,’ said Rochelle.

‘Due to his mix of styles such as pink, skirts, lace and patterns, he has inspired celebrities as well as fans to do the same thing, be who they are and dress how they want to, without the fear of being judged for being true to who they are.

‘He has created his own genre when it comes to looks and I feel that’s why so many celebrities see him as an icon and have been inspired to do the same.’
