Bengali actress Malobika Banerjee recently recalled an incident when she was shooting for a Telugu music video Nee Venakale Nadichi with Liger actor Vijay Deverakonda. Although she called Vijay a very professional actor, she said she was surprised to see him act in a Hindi film after he made fun of the language when they worked together.
Recalling the incident, Malobika said that she likes to communicate in Hindi and while they were shooting the song, she spoke to him in Hindi. She said Vijay used to mock and make fun of her, saying that she did not understand Hindi. He said Hindi language is like Hebrew and then started talking to her in Telugu.
“When he was shooting with me, he didn’t know how to speak Hindi and I prefer to speak in that language mostly while working. So I was trying to communicate with Vijay in Hindi while I was shooting and he was laughing and making fun of me saying he didn’t understand the language and it was like Hebrew. He started speaking in Telugu in front of me. Then I saw the teaser of Liger and I was surprised that after making fun of the language, he is doing a Hindi film! (laughs) Having said that, he’s a nice guy and very professional,” she told News 18.
She added that she wants to tell people how Vijay is mocking the Hindi language. When asked why she didn’t and what stopped her from revealing it before Liger’s release, she said she didn’t because he was her friend. “But I sent him a message saying ‘Welcome to Bollywood’ and also shared the Liger poster. That’s when I realized that he doesn’t really have that many Hindi dialogues in the film,” she said.
Vijay made his big Bollywood debut with Liger, directed by Puri Jagannadh and backed by Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions. However, the film failed to strike the right chord with the audience and flopped miserably at the box office.
