Following a screening of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 in Paris last night, the first social media reactions have begun finding their way onto Twitter.
Many are, understandably, in French (we’ve rounded up the English ones we could find below) but the consensus across the board appears to be the same: Marvel Studios and James Gunn have a winner on their hands.
After the lukewarm response to 2022’s Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness and Thor: Love and Thunder (not to mention Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania‘s recent critical mauling), this is sure to be welcome news for the studio. U.S. critics should start getting to see the threequel in the days ahead, so we’ll likely have reactions to share from slightly more familiar faces soon.
Marvel Studios, meanwhile, has already dropped a TV spot packed full of praise for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, with one quote describing it as the best MCU movie since 2019’s Avengers: Endgame!
Take a closer look at that, and these reactions, below.
This movie… my heart is full and broken at the same time, it was a LOT to process, a very complex story but it left me feeling awesome#GotGVol3 #GuardiansOfTheGalaxyVol3 pic.twitter.com/ANahOaLlgk

#GuardiansOfTheGalaxyVol3 is, more than ever, Star Wars as a stoner comedy. Lovable weirdos, big Marvel action and goofy jokes. But nothing can prepare you for all the emotions. Rocket Raccoon’s origin story is beautiful and heart-wrenching.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3 is a brilliant end to a brilliant trilogy. It’s very funny, emotional and everybody gets their stand-out moment. Will Poulter’s Warlock is a terrific addition, yet the focus is rightly on telling a satisfying end for the Guardians. Gonna miss them. pic.twitter.com/ot6L67Q9Cf

After seeing it twice I can safely say #GuardiansOfTheGalaxyVol3 completes the perfect MCU trilogy.
It’s heartbreaking and hilarious and I’ve loved this team from the first ooga shaka. A blast for 10 years 👏

Can confirm that I shed a tear during #GuardiansOfTheGalaxyVol3 . And that I would very happily watch an Adam Warlock solo movie. Full review (and interviews with the cast) coming very soon. pic.twitter.com/JqzoybOHQx

In Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, our beloved band of misfits are looking a bit different these days. Peter Quill, still reeling from the loss of Gamora, must rally his team around him to defend the universe along with protecting one of their own. A mission that, if not completed successfully, could quite possibly lead to the end of the Guardians as we know them.
Gunn writes and directs Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, which stars Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Dave Bautista, Karen Gillan, Pom Klementieff, featuring Vin Diesel as Groot, Bradley Cooper as Rocket, Sean Gunn, Chukwudi Iwuji, Will Poulter, and Maria Bakalova.
Kevin Feige is the producer and Louis D’Esposito, Victoria Alonso, Nikolas Korda, Simon Hatt, and Sara Smith serve as executive producers.
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 arrives in theaters on May 5, 2023.
