Vanessa Kirby poses for photographers at the premiere of Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One on Thursday, June 22, 2023 in London.
One downside of living down under is that a lot of the celebrity looks we fawn over, be them fashion or beauty focused, aren’t seasonally appropriate. They’re up there embracing sunny looks, and we’re down here re-filling our hot water bottles and liberally applying Chapstick to our dry winter lips.
Thankfully, this week plenty of celebrities showed off looks that looks good no matter the season.
From hairstyles that portray character and practicality, to manicures that show versatility, there was a lot to love.

Margot Robbie
Inarguably Margot Robbie, her glam squad and the Barbie marketing team are hitting it out of the park recreating iconic Barbie outfits on the film’s press tour. In my opinion the beauty looks have proved just as masterful, if not strictly as faithful.
Take this pouty look. It’s unmistakeably doll like, but also feels naturally modern, appropriately (for us in the Southern Hemisphere at least) autumnal and not overtly pink.
Vanessa Kirby
Vanessa Kirby plays a villain in the new Mission Impossible film, which maybe explains why her hair and makeup for the film’s premieres have been hard edged in a great way. Even if you ignore Kirby’s fierce sleek eyeliner and brushed up brows, one glance at the depth of that side part will tell you she means business.
Bella Thorne
Admiring Bella Thorne’s dual-toned manicure that features one hand of glossy red nails, and one with a more neutral taupe hue, I’m not sure why it’s never occurred me to adopt a similarly split approach. One manicure, twice as many looks.
Alicia Vikander
I was quite taken with the simplicity of the hairstyle that Irma Vep star Alicia Vikander chose for an appearance at a film festival in the Czech Republic. Because I drive to the conditions beauty wise, it struck me that it’s also a beautifully practical style to wear in rainy or windy weather.
Olivia Rodrigo
At the premiere of the video for her single Vampire, Olivia Rodrigo chose, suitably, a blood-red lip. It’s vampy, it’s deep, it’s brooding, and its very winter appropriate.
