In our top story. On his 51st birthday on 25th May, filmmaker Karan Johar dropped first-look posters of his upcoming romantic comedy, Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani. The film was originally slated for a February 10th release but has now been pushed to July 28. Fans were given a glimpse of both Alia Bhatt and Ranveer Singh as their characters in the film, Rani and Rocky, as well as their ‘parivaar’, which comprises veteran actors Dharmendra, Jaya Bachchan and Shabana Azmi, among others. Karan also shared four new posters for the film and captioned the post – “It is Rocky and Rani’s world and you’re about to live in it! “
Moving on. Actor Shahid Kapoor will lead in an upcoming action thriller, backed by Zee Studios and Roy Kapur Films. Filmmaker Rosshan Andrrews, known for Malayalam blockbusters like “Salute” will direct the movie, which will go on floors in the second half of 2023 and will release in 2024, the makers said in a statement. The untitled film is about a brilliant yet rebellious police officer investigating a high-profile case. The 42-year-old actor on his first collaboration with Andrews told PTI – “We have spent many months together now and it will be a pleasure to work with such a fantastic cinematic mind. I can’t wait to bring this exhilarating and thrilling story to the masses.”
Bollywood superstar Salman Khan has wrapped up the shoot of the third film in the Tiger franchise, Tiger 3. While speaking at the IIFA Awards 2023 press conference, the actor confirmed he finished the shoot on Wednesday, 24th May. As he interacted with the media in Abu Dhabi, Salman said, “Before coming here, I was shooting for Tiger 3 and I have completed it. It was a very hectic shoot, it was good though.” Tiger 3, also starring Katrina Kaif, is scheduled to hit theatres this Diwali. Emraan Hashmi plays the role of an antagonist in the Maneesh Sharma directorial. The film will be released in Hindi, Tamil and Telugu.
Meanwhile, Director Anurag Kashyap and lead stars of his film “Kennedy” Rahul Bhat and Sunny Leone made their appearance on the red carpet of the 76th Cannes Film Festival early Thursday morning, 25th May, for the movie’s world premiere. The film was showcased under the Midnight Screenings section of the prestigious film gala at the Grand Theatre Lumiere. Kashyap, a Cannes regular, wore a black bandhgala suit. Bhat donned a classic tuxedo and Leone was dressed in a pink-hued high-slit satin gown with a train designed by Naja Saade. Later, Leone took to her Instagram account to thank the filmmaker for giving her “the proudest moment of her career so far”.
The teaser of Santosh Sivan’s much-awaited action-thriller, Mumbaikar was released on Thursday, 25th May. It is backed by an “interesting mix of national talents” including actors like Vikrant Massey, Vijay Sethupathi, Ranvir Shorey, Tanya Maniktala, Sanjay Mishra, Sachin Khedekar, and Hridhu Haroon, among others. The film was announced by SS Rajamouli and Karan Johar in January 2021. After the teaser was released, fans expressed excitement for the action-thriller. Talking about the film, Santosh Sivan had earlier said in a statement, “Every city has its spirit, and so does Mumbai that is synonymous with the spirit of resilience. Mumbai may be a metro, but Mumbaikar is an emotion. Hence the title.” Mumbaikar will start streaming on JioCinema on June 2nd.
Meanwhile, the phone number of actor Adah Sharma, who was recently seen in the controversial film The Kerala Story, has been leaked online along with her morphed images. The actor, who is planning to take the legal route, said that she became aware of the situation when she started receiving an overwhelming number of calls and messages, including several threatening ones. In an interview with Hindustan Times, Adah, who is now in the process of changing her contact number, said, “I feel just like any other girl would feel with her number being leaked out with morphed images. It shows the perverse mentality of a person who would stoop so low and get joy in doing this.”
Actor-couple Renuka Shahane and Ashutosh Rana celebrated their 22nd wedding anniversary on Thursday, 25th May. On the occasion, Renuka shared a montage of old photographs of the couple. She also penned a long note for Ashutosh. Sharing the pictures from their wedding day, Renuka wrote, “Looking back at 22 years of love, laughter, joy; through thick and thin and all things in between. Thank you & love you, Ashutosh.Happy anniversary to us! Forever grateful to our family, friends and fans for showering us with the warmest and most precious wishes. Thank you all.” The actor’s post was met with several congratulatory comments from the couple’s colleagues and friends.
Lastly, Bollywood actor Ayushmann Khurrana on Thursday, 25th May, took to social media to share an emotional note about his late father, astrologer P Khurana. Ayushmann shared his father’s last advice to him, where he asked him and his brother Aparshakti Khurana to take care of their mother and to always stay together. In the pictures Ayushmann shared, he and Aparshakti are holding their mother Poonam’s hands with his father’s portrait hanging on the wall behind them. In another photo, the Khurana family is seen paying their respects to P Khurana. Ayushmann also penned a heartfelt note remembering his father. He wrote – “Thank you for your upbringing, love, sense of humour and the most beautiful memories.”
