In our top story. The controversies surrounding Om Raut’s directorial Adipurush are not ending anytime soon. Over the weekend, the All India Cine Workers Association wrote a letter to Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Mumbai Police, demanding the registration of a case against the producer, director and writer of Adipurush. The letter reads – “The movie running in theatres continues to depict a wrong image of Bhagwan Ram and the entire Ramayan and the producers also want to make money selling discounted tickets, which will send a wrong message about our learning and faith in the Ramayan.” Critics and several people from across the country have also expressed disappointment over the film’s dialogues.

 

Moving on. Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan marked 31 years in the film industry with an AskSRK session on Twitter. With his trademark wit, he addressed his career, life and how he handles negativity. He wrote while responding to a fan – “Negativity & positivity have the simplest two terms to get over. Thank you for appreciating what I do. And then move on. Don’t dwell on either.” He also gave an update about his upcoming film, Jawan’s teaser. “It’s all ready, getting other assets in place. Don’t worry, it’s all in a happy place. #Jawan.” Jawan is SRK’s second release of the year and is set to hit theatres on September 7.

 

Actor Abhishek Bachchan opened up about facing highs and lows in his 23-year career and said things may not have gone his way every time. Abhishek, who made his film debut with JP Dutta’s Refugee in 2001, also commented on constant comparisons with his father, megastar Amitabh Bachchan. In an interview with ETimes, Abhishek said it is only with “experience and maturity” that one realises that things may not have gone “his way” when he chose this career. On constant comparison with his father, Abhishek shared that there is “no right way to answer this”. He said that it doesn’t matter who you are related to, as that can only help you get your first film.

 

In a recent interview, Kiara Advani opened up about her marriage with Sidharth Malhotra. During an interview with Mirchi Plus to promote her upcoming film SatyaPrem Ki Katha, the actor was asked about love and marriage. In the now viral short clip, the actor shared – “I got married recently, and it was a love marriage. So naturally, I believe in true love. A home is made by two people and I feel lucky, that my partner, the man I have chosen, my husband is also my best friend. He is my everything, my home. Wherever I am, he is my family.” Sidharth Malhotra and Kiara Advani tied the knot on February 7, in a grand ceremony in Rajasthan.

 

Meanwhile, the official trailer for Huma Qureshi-starrer Tarla has been released. The film dramatises the inspiring journey of food writer and celebrity home chef Tarla Dalal. Joining Huma is actor Sharib Hashmi of The Family Man fame, who portrays the role of Tarla’s husband, Nalin. The trailer begins on a humorous note as Tarla surprises Nalin with a dish stuffed with chilis during their first-ever meeting for an arranged marriage. Later, we see Tarla redefining vegetarian cooking and becoming a household name in India. The trailer also reveals a glimpse of Tarla’s life as a mother and a wife. Tarla, directed by Piyush Gupta, will be released on July 7 on ZEE5.

 

Kangana Ranaut, who will next be seen in the film Emergency, has announced the release date of the much-anticipated movie, with a new teaser over the weekend. Kangana will portray the role of the first woman Prime Minister of India, Indira Gandhi. The film, which was originally set to release on October 20, the same day as Tiger Shroff’s Ganapath, will now be released on November 24th. Sharing the teaser, Kangana wrote in the caption, “A protector or a dictator? Witness the darkest phase of our history when the leader of our nation declared war on its people.” Emergency is directed and produced by Kangana. The film also features the late Satish Kaushik, Anupam Kher and Milind Soman in pivotal roles.

 

Anil Kapoor took to social media recently to celebrate his ‘40 years of being an actor and entertainer’. Anil made his debut as a lead actor in 1983’s Woh Saat Din, directed by Bapu and produced by brother Boney Kapoor. The actor posted pictures and clips from Woh Saat Din, which also starred Padmini Kolhapure and Naseeruddin Shah. The caption reads – “I complete 40 years of being an actor and an entertainer…40 years of being accepted, loved and blessed by you, the audience!” Anil also spoke about his upcoming projects The Night Manager and Animal, as he wrote, “I’m coming to you in two very special avatars. I hope you will continue to love and support me.”

 

Lastly, Actor siblings Ratna Pathak Shah and Supriya Pathak appeared together on Twinkle Khanna‘s YouTube talk show The Icons recently. On the show, Ratna revealed that she met her husband Naseeruddin Shah for the first time at a play rehearsal, and spoke about how she eased herself into a ‘blended family’. Ratna shared – “He was wearing these great John Lennon glasses, and I like that, and he had a beard. I didn’t even get his name right when we were introduced.” After dating for seven years, Ratna and Naseeruddin tied the knot in 1982. Ratna said – ” We just decided to see how this develops, from both sides. And luckily, it developed well.”
