Let’s begin with our top story. The Luv Ranjan directorial Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar has managed to bring some respite to cinema owners and audiences who have been longing for a good theatrical experience after Shah Rukh Khan’s Pathaan. Despite mixed reviews, the Ranbir Kapoor and Shraddha Kapoor-led romantic drama is still finding takers. Industry tracker Sacnilk reported that Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar’s total collection so far stands at Rs 88 crore approximately. The film is likely to face stiff competition from Mrs Chatterjee Vs Norway, which stars Rani Mukherji in the central role. Mrs Chatterjee Vs Norway has been released today.
Meanwhile, actor Rani Mukherji said that in her lifetime she can be only ‘Rani’, but through her characters, she can live on as ‘so many different Indian women.’ Rani, whose latest release Mrs Chatterjee Vs Norway sees the actor as an immigrant mother engaged in a long-drawn battle for her children, said that the effort has always been to highlight various facets of Indian women. Mukerji, whose credits include films such as Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, Hum Tum, Black and the Mardaani series, believes that as an artist, it is important for her to “look up to and root” for her characters.
Bollywood star Alia Bhatt celebrated her 30th birthday on Wednesday, 15th March with her near and dear ones. On Thursday, 16th March, the actor shared a bunch of photos from her party. In the simple but warm images, Alia is seen wishing upon a delicious-looking birthday cake, which was followed by a cute photo with her husband, actor Ranbir Kapoor. Several other photos featured her mother, actor Soni Razdan and sister Shaheen Bhatt and a couple of friends, in attendance. Alia Bhatt will next be seen in the Karan Johar directorial Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani, alongside Ranveer Singh, Shabana Azmi, Dharmendra and Jaya Bachchan. The shoot for the film wrapped recently.
Moving on. Actor Swara Bhasker, who recently tied the knot with Fahad Ahmad, hosted a reception for their friends and family in Delhi on Thursday, March 16th. Swara and Fahad, who registered their marriage a few weeks ago, commenced their pre-wedding festivities this week. Earlier, the couple dropped beautiful pictures from the haldi, mehendi and sangeet ceremonies. The couple arrived hand-in-hand for their reception. Swara dazzled in a pink lehenga and Fahad was sporting a cream-coloured sherwani. Swara completed her look with heavy accessories and a maang tika. Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal was seen attending the reception and congratulating the couple. Veteran actor-politician Jaya Bachchan was also in attendance.
Actor Shilpa Shetty Kundra has had a difficult couple of days as her mother Sunanda Shetty underwent surgery at Mumbai’s Nanavati Hospital. Now, the actor has informed that the surgery has been successful and spoke about her mother’s strength. While the reason behind the surgery is unknown, Shilpa also praised Dr Rajeev Bhagwat. He is the same doctor who treated actor Sushmita Sen recently after she suffered a heart attack. In a long, emotional post on Instagram, Shilpa wrote: ‘Seeing a parent undergo surgery is never easy for any child. But, if there’s anything I want to emulate from my mom it’s her guts and her fighting spirit.”
Punjabi actor Aman Dhaliwal was allegedly attacked in a gym in the US, as per several reports. A CCTV video of the attack has been doing the rounds of the internet. In the video, the accused is seen holding Aman at knifepoint. Later in the video, the actor is seen pinning the accused to the ground. Soon, others in the gym are seen rushing to Aman’s aid and helping him hold the accused down. The actor is now reportedly undergoing treatment at a hospital. The accused, meanwhile, has been handed over to the police. Aman Dhaliwal has worked in Punjabi films like Ik Kudi Punjab Di and Ajj De Ranjhe. He was also a part of Ashutosh Gowariker’s Jodhaa Akbar.
Meanwhile, after Salman Khan made an impressive cameo in Shah Rukh Khan‘s Pathaan, there is a lot of excitement over SRK’s character making a cameo in Tiger 3, which also stars Katrina Kaif and is directed by Maneesh Sharma. Pathaan director Siddharth Anand recently opened up about Tiger 3 and how YRF’s Spy Universe is shaping up. He said in a recent interview – ” I am not at all involved in Tiger 3’s direction, but Pathaan has set a template. His character, his look and his persona. So it is easier for anyone to crossover.” Siddharth also hopes that Pathaan, Tiger and Hrithik Roshan’s Kabir from War, come together for a new movie.
Lastly, Veteran actor Ratna Pathak Shah recently called out stars with entourage and compared them to three-month-old babies who “can’t even hold their coffee cups”. Ratna, in a chat with Film Companion, had shared that she has seen the careers of several “good actors” get “adversely affected by this entourage business”. Bhumi Pednekar, who is presently promoting her film Bheed with Rajkummar Rao, was asked how entourages and vanity vans affect their craft and the actor responded that it is up to an individual as to how “grounded” they want to be. She added – “I could be sitting on a chair in the middle of my set and still not speak to anybody.”
