Let’s begin with our top story. Actors Katrina Kaif and Vicky Kaushal enjoyed a peaceful getaway in the mountains. The couple flew out of Mumbai for their first wedding anniversary, which they celebrated on Friday, 9th December. Katrina posted a series of photos to her Instagram. One photo features a close-up shot of the actor wearing a hoodie. She also shared a photo of the sunset, posted a glimpse of Vicky Kaushal, and captioned the post – “Travel diaries”. On the work front, both Katrina and Vicky have several projects lined up. While Katrina has Tiger 3 and Sriram Raghavan’s next with Vijay Sethupathi, Vicky has Govinda Naam Mera and Sam Bahadur in the pipeline.

Varun Dhawan, who was recently seen in Bhediya, is keen to do regional films as he had been told that he is “more like a South Indian hero than a North Indian hero” by fans. When he was recently asked in an interview, about his plans of doing a film in the south, Varun mentioned that he wanted to work with many filmmakers in the south. Varun said that when they released Bhediya in Telugu as “Thodelu” at a launch in Hyderabad, fans said they loved his energy level and the kind of films he did, so he saw no distinction in the industries. The actor will next be seen in Nitesh Tiwari’s Bawaal.
“Meanwhile, the debate around older Bollywood male stars romancing younger female actors has been going on for a long time. Recently, Kajol, who essayed on the role of a mother of a 24-year-old man in Salaam Venky, was asked about it.
In an interview, Kajol said that movies are also ultimately “”a business”” which needed to earn profits at the end of the day and that “”every hero had to pull in a lot to make a film a hit, which was a huge responsibility on their heads””. However, she said that this was only her opinion and not a fact. Kajol will be next seen in The Good Wife, an Indian adaptation of the American courtroom drama of the same name.”
Actor Parineeti Chopra and Diljit Dosanjh are all set to star in filmmaker Imtiaz Ali’s upcoming movie Chamkila. The film is based on two popular Punjabi singers Amarjot Kaur and Amar Singh Chamkila. Recently, Dosanjh confirmed being a part of Chamkila during an interview with Film Companion. He shared that Imtiaz was very particular about him excelling as Chamkila on the silver screen. Hence, the director sends him an email every day describing minute details about his on-screen character. For the unversed, Amar Singh Chamkila and his wife Amarjot Kaur were assassinated on March 8, 1988, along with members of their musical band.
Producer Jay Shewakramani is basking in the success of his recent offering Freddy which starred Kartik Aaryan. With the thriller film receiving a positive reception on its digital release, Jay is now looking forward to his next film “Devotion of Suspect X”, which marks the digital debut of actor Kareena Kapoor Khan. The film directed by Sujoy Ghosh is the adaption of the novel of the same name by Japanese writer Higashino Keigo. The film, which is in its post-production stage, will have Kareena in a new avatar. Confirming that he’s looking at mid of 2023 for the film’s release, Jay said that a producer needs to take a project to an actor “they can’t say no to”.
Rani Mukerji’s “Mrs Chatterjee Vs Norway” gets a release date. Taking to Instagram, the makers’ Zee Studios dropped the still of Rani Mukerji from the movie along with the announcement. “Mrs Chatterjee Vs Norway” recounts the story of an immigrant Indian mother’s battle against the Norwegian foster care system and local legal machinery to win back the custody of her children. The film, which was earlier slated to release on May 20, 2022, will now premiere on March 3, 2023. Directed by Ashima Chibber, Mrs Chatterjee Vs Norway is a film inspired by true events. Rani Mukerji is also coming up with her memoir, scheduled to release on her birthday, March 21, 2023.
Lastly, filmmaker Karan Johar is perhaps among the most astute observers of the film industry. In an appearance on a roundtable interaction organised by Galatta Plus, Karan dissected the issues with Bollywood in particular. Karan said that while ‘normalcy’ has returned to cinema-going across Indian film industries, the Hindi industry was experiencing problems. He pointed out that ‘the biggest hits’ in the Hindi-speaking belt this year ‘were dubbed films’ of the South — KGF: Chapter 2, RRR and Baahubali 2. He also said that Hindi filmmakers used to be trendsetters once upon a time, but for some reason, they began making remake after remake of South Indian hits and “lacked conviction and spine”, as an industry.
