Let’s begin with our top story. The Ajay Devgn directorial Bholaa had a good weekend. After earning Rs 67.39 crore in 10 days, the film collected approx Rs 3.30 crore on Sunday, 9th April reported industry tracker Sacnilk. This brings the film’s total to Rs 70.69 crore. A remake of the Tamil hit, Kaithi, it was released in 2D and 3D, and as per reports, the former version is doing better among viewers. These versions saw 19 per cent and 17.76 per cent occupancy in theatres, respectively. It also had most takers in the evening than the earlier shows, while night shows ended on a positive note.

 

Moving on. The trailer of the Bollywood film Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan was unveiled on Monday, 10th April. The Salman Khan starrer, which is helmed by Farhad Samji, also features Pooja Hegde in the lead role. The trailer gives a sneak peek at Salman and Pooja’s budding romance and Salman introduces himself as “Bhaijaan” and defeats the goons by himself. The promo promises high-octane action sequences. We also see Shehnaaz Gill, Palak Tiwari, Venkatesh, Bhumika Chawla, Siddharth Nigam and Jagapathi Babu among others in the trailer. The film will hit theatres on the occasion of Eid ul Fitr on April 21.

 

Veteran actor Dharmendra, on Sunday, 9th April, posted pictures with actors Shahid Kapoor and Kriti Sanon as the trio wrapped up the shooting of their upcoming film. Taking to Instagram, Dharmendra shared a picture with Shahid which he captioned, “Friends, good fun to work with Shahid and other co-stars.” In the picture, the Sholay actor could be seen smiling along with Shahid. In another post, Dharmendra shared a picture with actor Kriti Sanon which he captioned, “Extremely happy to know the date of release. Good luck to the whole unit.” The makers recently unveiled the first look of the film. Written and directed by Amit Joshi and Aradhana Sah, the yet-to-be-titled film will hit cinemas this October.

 

Meanwhile, Bobby Deol recently talked about a period when he had to sit at home as he was not getting the parts he had envisioned himself doing. In a recent interview with Hindustan Times, the actor said that he too was a star once, but stardom by itself doesn’t last long. An actor believes that one has to constantly adapt and re-adapt himself with time. He shared – “I knew that, if I fall, my parents will always cushion me. But the fall hurts no matter how much cushion they gave me. I knew I had the potential. So, I worked on myself as an actor.”

 

Actor Raveena Tandon says she always tries to pick socially relevant stories with strong female characters and the Padma Shri award is a recognition of her belief in her cinema. The actor, who was recently conferred with India’s fourth-highest civilian award, has starred in critically-acclaimed movies like Satta and Daman in her over three-decade-long career. Raveena, in a new interview with PTI, also shared that she believes female artists have better opportunities than they had in the ’90s. She said – “Today there is a positive change. Women are at the forefront, whether as directors or producers or as heads of programming in OTT or the TV industry. I am very positive that things will become better in every way.”

 

Amitabh Bachchan on Monday, 10th April took to his blog to open up about quitting smoking and drinking. He shared how post-graduation, some classmates got together to drink alcohol in the science lab, which led to them falling extremely sick. He wrote – “The act that taught a lesson very early towards the effects or rather the disaffects of the elixir.” Big B, who recently injured himself on the set of his film Project K, added that there were a few instances when ‘this intoxicant played havoc due to its excess’. He added that while he wouldn’t deny the consumption, it’s been a personal choice to leave alcohol and even cigarettes. Amitabh Bachchan resumed work earlier this month, post-injury.

 

Meanwhile, veteran actor Zeenat Aman, who recently made her Instagram debut, is winning hearts on the internet with her insightful posts and anecdotes. On Monday, 10th April, Zeenat took a trip down memory lane and shared an adorable throwback picture featuring her sons –Zahaan and Azaan. Zeenat wrote alongside the picture that parenthood is overwhelming, joyous, and challenging. The actor shared, “Once my children were born, they became my sole priority. And as a single mother to two boys, I felt doubly responsible. More than anything I wanted to protect them and shape them to be kind and loving men. My approach to motherhood has always rested on the bedrock of unconditional love.”

 

Lastly, actor Shefali Shah has a simple philosophy of consuming art – she may not like it, but others might and hence, it has every right to exist. The actor, who has been in the industry for nearly two decades, feels people must always remember that India is a democratic country, which means everyone, including artists, has the freedom to express themselves. Earlier this year, Prime Minister Narendra Modi cautioned BJP leaders from making unnecessary remarks against movies and personalities to grab headlines. In an interview with ANI, Shefali was asked about the PM’s comments. The actor said, “Everything one does comes under scrutiny. But, course correction is needed.”
