Renowned film critic and trade analyst Taran Adarsh once again, in an exclusive interview with Bollywood Hungama, spoke about the Hindi film industry and the upcoming films. Among many other films, he specifically talked about the Shah Rukh Khan starrer Jawan while shedding light on the decision of the makers to release it in September instead of June. For the unversed, Jawan was earlier slated to release on June 2, 14 days before the release of Adipurush. However, the film will now release on September 7.

The renowned trade analyst was decoding the month of May while calling June to be a game-changer month for the film industry. He said, “The month of May is not really happening for the film industry right now. Had it not been for The Kerala Story, it would have been a completely dry month for the film industry. In any case, there are not many films that are really working at the box office. There’s a Hollywood film, Fast and Furious, coming in next week. “
He further added, “They (exhibitors) need more local films which actually work at the box office. June should be a game-changer. Jawan has been shifted to September. It’s a great thing Shah Rukh did actually I feel and this is my humble opopini. Okay I feel that January to June was very limited time and the breathing space for Jawan would be just two weeks because there’s Adipurush.”
He concluded by saying, “When you’re arriving on the 2 (June), then you have only 14 days as Adipurush is releasing on June 16. The film (Jawan) is great. I’m not denying that but now, it has shifted to September is good. He’s got a four-day weekend again so let’s hope.”
