Known for some of the most popular character roles, Nawazuddin Siddiqui has proved time and again his mettle as an actor. At the same time, the actor has also made some strong statements in the past, wherein he has shown complete courage in expressing his heart out. Recalling this phase that he underwent in 2018 post the shoot of Manto, the actor regrets those actions and confesses to Bollywood Hungama about being carried away.

In an interview with Bollywood Hungama, Nawazuddin Siddiqui reminisced about the time he shot for Nandita Das’ film Manto, based on the controversial Indo-Pakistan author writer Sadat Haasan Manto who was famous for his uninhibited literary works during the pre and early post-Independence era. When asked if he regrets being carried away by the character of Manto, speaking his heart out and even writing a book that got withdrawn, he said, “Haan abhi bhi lagta hai aisa carried away nahi hona chahiye (I still feel I shouldn’t have gotten so carried away).”
Later referring to another statement where he was seen urging people to speak up but at the same time, regretting about speaking out too much, Nawazuddin wondered where to draw the line, where to speak and where to stay silent. Responding to this question, the actor added, “Wahi hai samaj nahi aa raha ki chup rahein ya kya karein. Aaj Bachchanji ka tweet dekha jahan pe unhone likha tha, ‘Aaj chup rahunga main’ and mujhe laga achha hai. (That’s exactly what I don’t understand when to stay silent and when to speak up. Today I read (Amitabh Bachchan) Bachchanji’s tweet where he is saying, ‘I will stay silent today’ and I was thinking yes it’s good that way).”
On the work front, Nawazuddin Siddiqui was recently seen alongside Neha Sharma in the film Jogira Sara Ra Ra.
