Prince Harry’s new memoir Spare will be published on January 10 – just over a month after the Netflix documentary on him and his wife Meghan Markle was released amid controversy.
The “personal and emotional” book, written by Pulitzer Prize winner JR Moehringer, reportedly includes claims that Prince William physically assaulted Harry at his London home during a row over the Duchess of Sussex in 2019.
Harry also reportedly wrote that King Charles asked his sons “not to make my last years a misery” during a conversation that took place after Prince Philip’s funeral in March 2021.
The 38-year-old recently met with ITV’s Tom Bradby and CNN’s Anderson Cooper to promote the memoir in separate interviews in the UK and the US respectively.
During the interviews, Harry addressed his future as a working royal, wanting to reconcile with his father and brother, and accusations that he was breaching his family’s privacy after “standing up” to intrusions into his own life.
Of his discord with the royal family
“It was never meant to be.”
Harry appeared to talk about his strained relationship with the royal family in a chat with ITV’s Tom Bradby, in a teaser for Harry: The interview.
“It was never meant to be,” he told Bradby in a 20-second teaser released on January 3.
Harry and Meghan announced their decision to step back from their role as senior royals in January 2020.
In their six-part Netflix docuseries, Harry spoke about the ‘Sandringham Summit’ or meeting he had with the late Queen, Charles and William on January 13, 2020, which was held to discuss the Duke and Duchess’ decision .
He said he was left “horrified” after the Prince of Wales “shouted and shouted” at him during the discussions.

Harry appeared to clarify the “leak” during his conversation with Cooper on CNN 60 minuteswhich will air on Sunday (January 8).
Harry claimed that every time he tried to discuss his and Meghan’s future privately with the royal family, “there have been briefings, leaks and stories being planted against me and my wife”.
He continued: “The family motto is ‘Never complain, never explain’, but that’s just a motto.”
“They have shown absolutely no desire for reconciliation.”
Following the release of the Netflix documentary, The times reported that Harry and Meghan would like to “sit down with the royal family” and work out their “issues”.
Responding to the Palace’s announcement that Lady Susan Hussey had apologized to black charity founder Ngozi Fulani for “racist” remarks, a source close to the Sussexes reportedly said: “Nothing like that was done when Harry and Meghan expressed various concerns – there was no meeting, formal apology or acceptance of responsibility or accountability.
“That’s hard to swallow — 100 percent yes, they would like to have a date.”
During his conversation with Bradby, Harry says that his family has “shown absolutely no desire to reconcile” with him and his wife.
“I’d like to get my dad back, I’d like to get my brother back,” Harry also said in the clip, adding: “They think it’s better to keep us kind of villains.”
He is accused of invading his family’s privacy
“Won’t your brother say to you ‘Harry, how could you do this to me?’ After everything we’ve been through?” Bradby asked Harry in a new teaser for the ITV interview.
Harry replied, “He would probably say all sorts of things.”

In their Netflix show, Harry and Meghan claimed the royal household was planting negative stories about the duchess to distract from less favorable coverage of other family members.
On attending the King’s coronation and his future as a royal

During his interview with Bradby, Harry refused to commit to attending King Charles’ coronation if invited.
In the latest clip to be released, Bradby asked Harry if he would be traveling to London for the ceremony in May.
Harry replied, “There’s a lot that can happen between now and then. But the door is always open. The ball is in their court.
“There’s a lot to discuss and I really hope they’re willing to sit down and talk about it,” he continued.
During the teaser for Harry’s interview with Bradby, he confirmed that he still believes in the monarchy. When asked by the ITV presenter if Harry believed it would “play a part in his future”, he replied: “I don’t know.”
Separately, when CNN’s Cooper asked him if Harry could see a day “when you’re back as a regular member of the royal family,” he said, “No.”
ITV Harry: The interview will be released on January 8 at 9pm in the UK.
