PULLMAN — Neil Everett, one of the more iconic hosts of ESPN SportsCenter over the last decade, grew up in Spokane but is a proud Oregon graduate. Heading into Washington State’s huge game with No. 15/18 Oregon on Saturday at 1, CF.C reached out to media members and former players for their prediction and score.

Everett, a former Lewis & Clark High teammate of WSU Hall of Famer Dan Lynch, frequently promotes the Northwest while anchoring SportsCenter. He graduated from Oregon in 1984, and makes this pick for Saturday …

Neil Everett: “The Cougars are never an easy out, especially when hopped up at home on Cougar Gold,” Everett told CF.C. “With that said, my beak says Ducks, 28-27.  Quack.”

Here is what other notables are saying:

Former Duck and NFL offensive lineman Geoff Schwartz: “Although I’m always terrified of a Duck game in Pullman, Oregon is going to win this one. They are starting to play to their talent level and Bo Nix is rolling in the offense. I’ll take my Ducks to win 31-23.”

KJR Host and CF.C contributor Jim Moore: “I can’t believe the Ducks are favored by 6.5 points. I’m expecting a much closer game with the Cougs parlaying a potent combination of terrific defense and home field advantage into a 27-17 victory. And if that doesn’t happen, I’ll lose $150. Go Cougs!”

Former WSU linebacker Ivan McLennan: “That Oregon team looked very explosive this past Saturday with Bo Nix showing great poise. But BYU’s front is also not as good as Wazzu’s. With our front and secondary complementing each other, I think we pull out a tough win. Offense makes a big play late and the Cougs win 28-24.”

Pac-12 Network broadcaster and WSU Murrow alum Cindy Brunson: “If Jake Dickert wants to match Mike Price’s best start for a first year head football coach at WSU, then look to the trenches. Oregon’s offensive line is one of four teams that hasn’t allowed a sack all season while WSU is second in the country with 14 sacks. My heart says the Cougs will pluck the Ducks for the first time in four tries, 38-35.”

KJR Host Jason Puckett: “Led by Brennan Jackson and Ron Stone Jr, the Coug defenses forces 3 interceptions of Bo Nix and Jaylen Jenkins has a breakout game, scoring once through the air and once on the ground. Wazzu wins 27-23 to improve to 4-0.”

WSU quarterback legend Luke Falk: “Cougs get rolling in all three phases of the game and win 35-24.”

Former Spokesman-Review WSU beat writer Vince Grippi: “Washington State’s explosive defensive line versus Oregon’s experienced offensive line? Yes, please. That should be fun. WSU’s offensive line against the Duck pass rushers? Maybe not as much for Cougar fans. Whichever team wins the battles up front wins Saturday’s game. I think it will be 28-24 Oregon.”

WSU quarterbacking legend and radio color commentator Alex Brink: “Defense shows up big again, stopping the run and forcing multiple turnovers. Cougs win 24-21.”

Former WSU wide receiver Calvin Jackson Jr.: “Big game for us Cougs. I say the offense comes out strong and the defense of course comes out strong. We score first and stay hot, closing the game off. I’ll say 21-14 with the Cougs on top.”

MEANWHILE ON ESPN LAST NIGHT, Scott Van Pelt  proclaimed “hold onto your butts in Pullman” while handicapping the Cougs vs. Ducks. He’s going with the Cougs.
