Celebrities like to look their best for the waiting paparazzi, with many stars searching for anti-ageing secrets, but it seems there’s a new beauty trend in town
Hollywood A-listers have plenty of beauty regimes they swear by, from Jennifer Lopez’s olive oil obsession to Halle Berry’s rosewater makeup routine and Jennifer Aniston’s microcurrent facials.
There are lots of tricks and serums out there for people to achieve an anti-ageing glow, but it seems there’s a new beauty trend which celebrities are obsessing over.
Leading cardiologist Dr Ernst Von Schwarz said there is “huge demand to be forever young” and said many stars are now in search of immortality.
Speaking exclusively to The Mirror, he said: “There’s this huge demand to be forever young and even immortal nowadays, believe it or not people have that idea.
“In fact, we do have means available nowadays to at least in part reverse some of what we call degenerative diseases which are associated with ageing.”
Dr Von Schwarz said stem cell therapy can be used to try and combat the progression of ageing.
“The two major things why people age is number one, we lose elasticity of our blood vessels and number two, we lose the potency and the quantity of our stem cells to repair damage and that’s where regenerative medicine comes in.
“We try to get the blood vessels elastic and we try to repair the damage that has occurred already with advanced ageing,” he explained.
He also said stars use facial injections before big red carpet appearances.
“That’s why they all look so young and beautiful,” he told us. “What they do is rejuvenate the skin, they produce collagen and if we inject people in the face, they glow, they look like five years younger.
“It’s amazing, I mean you can see it within days.”
Speaking about the demand in potential immortality treatments, the clinical professor said: “There is a huge interest and it’s nothing new, people are interested in an everlasting life.”
Dr Von Schwarz is about to release a brand new book, The Secrets of Immortality.
The book focuses on immortality beyond anti-ageing treatments.
The doctor said: “We are basically evaluating the possibilities of people living forever.
“I personally don’t believe that, but I’m sure that we can extend our lives by up to 150 years or more very very soon in the very very near future.”
However, Dr Von Schwarz said he is “completely against the idea that there’s a magic cure” to ageing and said anti-aging is a combination of lifestyle changes, including diet, exercise and giving up toxins.
He also warned that there are several risks associated with stem cell therapy.
“It’s not FDA approved in the US, meaning there’s no official recommendation and it’s not covered by insurance companies,” he said.
He also advised that “not everybody is a candidate”.
Dr Von Schwarz told us: “For example, I have a lot of patients with cancer diseases who come to me for stem cell therapy.
“There’s a lot of questions about cancer and stem cells and some believe it might be beneficial, others say it’s very dangerous so I would actually stay away from that.”
He added: “Then there’s also conditions where we believe that it’s too late in the game to make too much of a difference with stem cells.”
The Secrets of Immortality is available to pre-order now and releases August 1.
