Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt starrer Brahmastra made a mark with its good performance at the box office. The film grossed over Rs 400 crore worldwide and ran in theaters for nearly two months. The Ayan Mukerji directorial was recently released on Disney Hotstar and those who have watched it have clearly seen Deepika Padukone as Ranbir’s on-screen mother in the film.
Deepika is rumored to be playing Shiva’s mother Amrita in Brahmastra. It was widely speculated that Ranveer will also be seen in the film along with Deepika. Those who watched the IMAX film claimed to have spotted Deepika in the film but could not see her clearly. Others who watched in 2D didn’t see her at all.
Now that the OTT version of Brahmastra is out, the rumors of Deepika being cast as Ranbir’s mother in Brahmastra 2 can be confirmed. Viewers shared a short clip from the film which apparently reveals Deepika’s face as Amrita, who is seen carrying baby Shiva in her arms. Her face is seen as she leans towards the window and at the same time the flash flashes.

Meanwhile, there were reports that Hrithik Roshan has opted out of Brahmastra 2 as he will be working on his own superhero film Krrish 4. While Hrithik is considering the role, Ranveer may replace him if the former decides to exit.
Brahmastra received good viewership on the OTT platform. Many netizens took to social media to express their regret over the film’s boycott due to the online trend. The film also had a brief cameo by Shahrukh Khan as Mohan Bhargav, who did have a connection to Swades. It also features Amitabh Bachchan, Mouni Roy and Nagarjuna in prominent roles.
