Currently in its 16th edition, the India Couture Week aims to highlight India’s rich craftsmanship made contemporary for a modern audience. Organised by the Fashion Design Council of India (FDCI), the fashion event sees celebrated Indian designers showcase their latest collections. And this year has been no different, with many Bollywood celebrities turning showstoppers for different couturiers.
Advani epitomised the Barbiecore trend that has us all in its grip when she walked the ramp for Falguni Shane Peacock on the opening night of India Couture Week (ICW). Dressed in a modern ensemble, Advani turned showstopper for the brand’s ‘Renaissance Reverie’ collection which pays homage to the Renaissance while fusing elements from Indian culture, techniques, and craftsmanship.
In the same spirit, the actress donned a lehenga featuring a thigh-high slit coupled with a beaded bralette that had a bare back detail.
Aditi Rao Hydari For Ritu Kumar
In a show that marked her comeback to ICW after a decade, designer Ritu Kumar presented her collection titled ‘The OG’ that featured ensembles which combined traditional crafts like kasab and kashidakari into modern silhouettes and styles.
And actress Aditi Rao Hydari was the showstopper for this show, donning a Gazal jacket, with a touch of gold zardozi work, that highlighted traditional Kashmiri design, and a embroidered lehenga, both in ivory.
Janhvi Kapoor For Gaurav Gupta
Gupta, who has been raking accolades for his visionary structured ensembles, most recently at the Paris Fashion Week, took the stage with his ‘Hiranyagarbha’ collection on day 3 of the fashion extravaganza.
The stunning Janhvi Kapoor was the showstopper, gracing the ramp in a stunning midnight blue ensemble which featured a bralette-style blue blouse coupled with an embroidered lehenga that had intricate sequin work all over. She kept her makeup minimalistic, with wet hair styled effortlessly across her shoulders.
Bhumi Pedneker For Varun Bahl
Varun Bahl’s ‘Inner Bloom’ collection was showcased on day 3 of ICW where actress Bhumi Pednekar took the ramp in a stunning embroidered fishtail lehenga with 3D flowers that are a signature of his label. The collection’s colour palette included black, lavender-pink, fuchsia, ember red and seafoam blue among others, made more elegant with the use of patchwork embroidery that gave it a haute couture look. Pedneker kept her look classy with smoky eyes, and contoured cheeks with a hint of blush.
