Despite fatalities caused by driving under the influence (DUI) of alcohol or drugs have declined, over 10,000 Americans are still killed by drunk drivers annually, per SafeHome.org. Along with that, 10 percent of all criminal arrests across the country are for driving under the influence. Many people have been arrested and caught for DUIs, including quite a few A-listers. Justin Bieber, Lindsay Lohan, Paris Hilton, Khloé Kardashian; sadly, the list goes on and on. Although all too common, driving under the influence is a major offense and endangers the lives of everyone on the road.
Sometimes, people do it one time when they’re young, but other times, it’s the byproduct of a crippling addiction. More than 20 million people in the U.S. have an addiction, per DrugHelpline. It’s not something to brush off. Some have called their DUI charges a wake-up call, and we’re glad they got the help they need. And we hope the rest can as well.
