Celebrate summer with outdoor performances and movies in Burnaby’s parks

The City of Burnaby has some great ways to celebrate summer with free live entertainment and outdoor movie nights in several of the city’s spectacular parks. 

Summer Stages at Confederation Park (by the spray park), starts July 11. Every Tuesday to Friday until August 25, enjoy 2 amazing live performances every day at noon and 2 pm. Top-notch family friendly entertainers include Cosmo’s Clown Circus, magician Wes Barker, Bollywood dance with Karima Essa, Celtic music with Blackthorn, Burnaby Lyric Opera, ventriloquist Kellie Haines, Elvis tribute artist Aaron Wong and more. Also keep an eye out for live music in parks throughout Burnaby every Wednesday to Friday, July 12 until September 1, with the return of Sounds Like Summer. Listen to indie folk-rock artist Joline Baylis, discover the earthy and dreamy sounds of Chris Ho and more. Returning in August is Burnaby’s popular movie series at Civic Square outside the Bob Prittie Library at Metrotown. On Friday nights enjoy family-friendly movies including The Wizard of Oz (August 4), The SpongeBob Movie: Sponge on the Run (August 11), Spies in Disguise (August 18), The Lost City (August 25), and West Side Story (Sept 1). Movies at Civic Square start at 8:15 pm, rain or shine. Looking for something on a Saturday? Check out Shazam! Fury of the Gods at Edmonds Park (August 26). Show starts at 8:30 pm.
